This is typically worn anti-roll bar drop links. A quick and easy job so worth doing first. If you are resaonably handy it can be DIY, but as it's wheel off you will need an axle stand. Don't do it with just the wheel changing jack supporting the car.

Thanks for help, but what is a anti roll bar and what does it do,what would be the cost if took it garage,as you can tell mechanics are not my thing

Well you could google it...
An anti-roll bar is a torsion spring (bar) connected between the wheel hubs or struts on opposite sides of the vehicle and attached to the chassis by rubber bushes (or bearings on race cars). It allows both wheels to move up and down together but resists them moving in opposite directions i.e. reducing body roll. The drop links connect the roll bar to the hub or strut and have a spherical bearing on each end. These wear and cause a clunk. Links cost £10 to £20 each and should not take a garage more than half an hour to fit. Personally I use Febi brand links.

Thanks Robert that,s as good an explanation ,you will get, much clearer now
will take it round local garage to sort it,but have another problem my "change engine oil "light has just started flashing.

I only had a service two months ago ,so this is a bit strange, any ideas on reseting i believe this is what,s required.

Let me guess,
It's a diesel with a DPF
You used an independent garage for the service.

If the above are correct the likely issue is the garage did not reset the oil degradation counter in the engine ECU.
This is only on DPF equipped diesels and is a separate function to the normal service reset. It requires Fiat specific software, e.g. Fiat dealer, Fiat specialist garage or Multiecuscan (MES) www.multiecuscan.net
Most, if not all, dealers will not reset this unless they did the oil change because of liability issues. Technically the garage who did the work is responsible, but as they got it wrong first time I'd be concerned about letting them have another go. They may be able to persuade a dealer to do it or you could get them to pay a mobile auto electrician to do it.
If you are near Cambridge I can do it for you.

Thank again Robert,Yes right on all items, drat!!, I,am not in the Cambridge area, but thanks for offer ,from Merseyside, does this mean I will have to get a local fiat dealer to change the oil again, then reset warning light.

thanks to all,you have been a great help,I will have to get clued up on Fiats
now I have one, this "Qubo"is my first ,mostly Fords in the past so don,t have a lot of experience, but no doubt the forum will help.

Hi my punto Active had a clunking noise at the front, it turned out to be the heat sheald on the manifold. It had come away from the bottom, every time I went in or over a bump it clunked, hope that this helps. My regards Phil Wood. [emoji2]

You should at least talk to the garage who did the service and see what they say. You don't need to change the oil again, it's just that most main dealers want to know for sure that it was changed before doing a reset.

Yes,been into garage "Halfords Service Centre" they say they are 95% sure
they can do it,dont ask what that mean,I would of thought they can do it or not
anyway the are not going to charge, so will give it a go.

If it was Halfords their kit will almost certainly be capable of doing the reset it's just the staff knowledge that was lacking.
Not going to charge you?:bang: If anything they should be compensting you for your time and trouble.

Hi All

Thanks for your help on this clunking noise ,I know its been a while but i have been putting all your advise into practice, had drop links done had wishbone ball joints done, still have clunk in fact its gone worst.the only thing i did not try was the anti-roll bar by the way all this work by garage mech not myself ,they say nothing wrong with anti-roll bar

Any more ideas

thanks

Re: Clunking noise

I took my 12 plate Qubo in for service and MOT (50k miles) last week. I knew the discs needed changing as the guys who fitted my Michelin Cross-Climates said they were almost on the limit for wear. The guys rang me back to say they could do all that but one of the front coils was broken (Sheffield roads no doubt!!) so I had them done (as a pair). Total bill was £600. I'd wager your clunking is a broken spring.
Funny think is though, I took the car for a run today when I'd collected it and in a couple of car parks there's a knocking noise when slow manoeuvering and it sounds like knocking track-rod end joints. I put my hands on the n/s wheel whilst my Mrs. moved the steering a little and I could sense the knocking via the wheel. Need to get under and have a look :(
He's got my swanky 500X in at the moment for its 20k service so on collection I'll be asking him for an opinion.

Hope this gives you an answer or at least another place to look?

Hi

Mine has made a clunking noise since I got it new six years ago, I kept taking it back but they could never fix it! Now the noise is a bit louder I noticed the coil spring is snapped but I have not replaced it yet as I cannot get the right part without paying Fiat £170.90 for a pair.
