Hi everyone, my first post as a newbie, joined last night!

My Son asked me to try to fix his Grande Punto 1.3 Diesel multijet which had for a week or so intermittently at first, but then permanently displayed all 3 warning symbols on dashboard for SRS, Airbag, and Seatbelt undone. As I am very fortunate to work on a Friday at my cousins Garage I got stuck in with the Snap-on code reader which showed canbus issues / lack of communication with air bag module. Advised by my cousin to locate Airbag control module which is under centre console, this is removed quite easily and once lifted over gear stick and handbrake you can then remove 3 nuts securing module. Replacement cost from Fiat Dealer was £500 so considered a second hand one from Ebay, they range from £30-£100. Decided it was worth opening up existing suspect unit so used a small drill either side of aluminum case where metal has been pressed in, enabling inspection of PCB. Re-soldered suspected dry joints on both sockets that connect to main ecu and all 5 electrolytic capacitors. On plugging back in and testing I was delighted to find it had fixed problem completely as after starting car, lights now go out as they should do.
Hope this helps anyone with similar issues. PS took usual precautions whilst working with airbag faults by disconnecting battery!

Waow !! first time ever I see a newbie giving a solution as his first post, you must be a kind of record breaker :-D

Unfortunately the thanks icon is missing so I couldn't hit it :-(
