Hi everyone .
Just a wee message to say from Aberdeen .
Just bought a 2007 Doblo that bump starts no problem but it will not start with key ! It is turning over but just won't start !
Can anyone help !

Thanks
Graeme

Hi,
Welcome to Fiat Forum.
First thng to check woith your Doblo is the battery and it's connections. viually check the battery connectors and leads, especially the "earth" lead where the lugs are crimped on. Try a jump start form a known good battery connected across the battery teminals. If it starts, get a new battery. If it does not start, connect the negative lead to the engine block. If it works like that but not across the battery directly then you have a bad earth connection.

Thanks for your reply Robert.
I have checked all your suggestions none worked .
I bought myself a can of easy spray and stuck some in the air intake and it started and kept running . I have noticed that there is a leak in the fuel filter housing , just a steady drip . Could this stop it from starting if there is not enough fuel getting through?

Thanks
Graeme

Hi,
The fuel leak might be letting air in an fuel to drain out of high pressure pump inlet, but it's just a guess. I needs fixing anyway as its a fire risk. Note that if it's the plastic housing type you really need the special tool to loosen and tighten the cap retaining collar. Many will tell you otherwise, strap wrench etc, but they distort the collar and can even cause permanent damage. Search on here will give lots of information.

Hi ,
I have done some research and like you said everyone has said to get the tool . However how can you tell when it's it has been tightened to 32 KN ? I assume I would just Tighten until it's really tight ?
I have also read that even the pros struggle to get this filter housing on the correct way without any leaks.
I have just bought this van and I am hoping it is not gonna turn into a money pit !
Thanks
Graeme

Hi ,
So I have still not managed to get this van started on its own .
The leaking fuel filter housing was fixed it just needed a tighten up .
whilst I was rummaging around I found a couple of loose connections.
Does anyone know what these are for ?

It is the 1.3 . I can't understand why it is starting with a soray of cold start but it won't go without it ?

Fuel rail pressures are dependant on cranking input.. you are fuelling it from a can..;)

Once spinning the rpm is boosting fuel pressure.. so it keeps running.

The Multiecuscan will give love rail pressures.

I have checked all the battery terminals and they are god and plenty of power as it's new battery. I fixed the leak in filter housing and I have just checked the fuses on the pump side and all good . One thing I forgot to mention was that when it's running it's fine I had it out for a spin today for a few miles and no problems apart from it's very smokey. I had a look under the air filter and it's obvious that someone has been tampering with this van . So it's had problems before now . I suppose that's he. A very you take for buying a van of eBay !

I was thinking of putting in new fuel filter and air filter and filling up fuel filter housing with forte diesel treatment .

The guy that sold me it recond the turbo was knackered and that was the reason for the smoke but it seems tone boosting fine and defo no whistles!
I have one of those plug and play code readers died the Doblo have a port for these ?

Ha found it !

Found what? The problem??

For diagnostics Multiecuscan is great, much better than a generic code reader. See www.multiecuscan.net
You need an ELM 327 interface on a laptop and a A3 / Yellow adaptor lead for some functions but not the engine control unit. You will have to pay the 50 Euro reggistration fee to access the Doblo 1.3 16V ECU though.
A suitable interface is www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271275445368
You can read pressures, fault codes actuate valves, change settings and more.

I think he means he's found the diagnostic port...

Did the the reader connect to the car and find the ECU?

As you said earlier, it likely that someone else has messed with the car. This makes fault findind harder as there may be multiple issues.
At this point I'd want to check the fuel pressure. Multiecuscan can tell you what the sensor and ECU think it is.

The reader connects to he cannot problem and showed a fault indication maf problem but I had removed the air filter housing and MaF . Now I have the engine management light on .
I have outlined on the photo where someone has been tinkering about . The lie line is where the air filter cover has been cut away and glued . The pink circle shows where there has been connections removed and a steel bar been added! This cannaot be good ?
Thanks

Looking at the state of my pump I would imagine that I would need a new pump. Would this fit my 2007 Doblo ? It's off a fiat idea 2006.

So today I had in to a garage to put it on diagnostic . He had a Snapon one . Came back no fault codes ! He had a look around and he reckoned that the engine has been out if it at one point as all the connectors that hold the wiring loom and hoses were all loose . He also said that it could be air getting in to system . How can I check this ? Can I bleed the fuel system ?
Thanks
Graeme
