Hi can anyone tell me how to check the egr
solenoid I have it off but don't no how to check it help!

Hi Paul,

why do you want to check it ? I guess you EGR is at fault (MIL on @ dash), if so what the error code ??

- disconnect and ohm the coil: should not be shorted nor open but show 8 ohms
- disconnect the ECU plug and check for electrical continuity up to the EGR connector

Need the exact engine type to tell what pin numbers...

Regards, Bernie

Starting fine but hard to take off ? How about engine warning light ?

Q: How to check the EGR solenoïd ?
A: With an Ohm-meter; open or short circuit = bad, typical R = 8 ohm (as written on)

This answers Your original question...

You'd better open a new post with your real issue (in the tittle as well), where You would give FULL information, the very minimal one being engine type (don't give a s**t about the colour, lowered suspension etc. ;-). No need to make a long story, but don't shorten it either, i.e. "my car is limpy".

That would look something like this:

Post tittle:
MJD loss of power

Msg:
Hi there, my name is Zorglub from Mars and I'm new on this forum.
My car is a Grande Punto 1.3 MJT 90 bhp, year 2008 100% stock (no mods).
The daughter brought the car back from a visit to a friend, telling that she was missing power and could hardly accelerate to reach 120km/h on the highway.
There is a warning light ON at the dashboard and a message saying to "control the engine" (or similar). Engine start perfect, makes no special noise and doesn't smoke !

I have a little experience with mechanics (not two left-handed ;-) so could perform some checks if needed. I believe I could have error code read quite easily...
Any suggestion warmly welcome,

Regards, Zorglub

Let's see if someone would reply to this fake post (actually it really happened to me, exactly like describbed), then You'd know how to ask to get any help...

Regards, Bernie

ps: I fixed the problem describbed for 80 €cts ...
