New user to forums and have no idea if this is the correct place or anything so sorry. My friend has a 56 plate grande punto active 1.2 and it has oil spitting out of the crank case breather. i was wondering if anyone has any reasons why it might be doing this. the breather is currently disconnected from the air box, this is so the oil doesnt cause further damage to the throttle body.
thankyou

what mileage has the engine done as it could be piston rings worn if high mileage

Thats what my first thought was, however the mileage is only 30,000. its previous owner was an elderly lady who had it from new and didnt know much about cars so did not look after it. i am gonna do a compression test on within the next week to check them, was just wondering if that came up short if there would be any other causes.

No that was another thing we made sure of. The dipstick was never over and it goes through about 1 litre of oil a month.

It may have happened before you owned it though. I was just wondering how the engine got damaged at such a young age. They're normally very robust.
