Hello

After having fiats in the family in the form of a 500 Multijet new back in 2008, and then a return to a 62 reg 1.2 500s last year we have bought last week both a panda for our daughter and a grande punto for our son, both are new learner drivers and both are the 1.2 petrol engine.

Both cars are great, really put a smile on your face, especially the green panda.

Both have some jobs to do, but will post them in a separate post.

Punto 70K miles
Both rear door handles sticky
OSR door window regulator
Both parcel shelf rubbers missing off the pivot panels

Panda 60K miles
Changed battery in remote key but it keeps losing its memory
new thermostat needed I think, only gets up 1/4 temp and its only done 60,000miles. Engine tight as a drum, will check radiator too

Both are great starter cars for young adults.

Thanks for reading

As the dad and the carer I love these two cars, amazing in many ways, value and the different characters as they are both completely different in so many ways.

The panda is noisy but buzzy, where as the punto is quiet and refined, almost seems slow in comparison but I think it is the sound insulation in the panda that makes it seem as though you are doing 100mph when you are doing 60mph.

Have already fixed the glovebox in the punto, was down to misalignment, got the window regulator to change next.

Both engines are the fire engines, punto gets straight up to temperature and sits there.

Grande Punto 2007

I've been using our '04 active panda for a month again now,
I've noticed the 'stat I replaced ,(along with the HG) 2 years ago has the gauge on 1/3 rather than the half-way I'm accustomed to..,
but gives out LOADS of heat.. so it's a good-'un.

Thanks for that, only just got both cars so will check the saloon heater output when its warmer, thought it might have got hotter on the way home thats what made me suspect a lazy thermostat.

Thanks for your feedback
