Hi there, I'm new to this, so please bear with me.
I have a Qubo, 2nd hand ex motibility with 26k on the clock. It seemed fine at first, but several, problems have meant I have fallen out with it big time. In a nut shell they are:
I bought it with a flashing mileage, which the dealer said all Fiats did (I know, I know) but now I realise was an indication of a fault.
The battery goes flat after about 4 days of non use. You would not believe the trouble I have had getting through to various Fiat dealers that clearly something is draining the battery. I have finally had this diagnosed as the Blue me thingy.
The latest Fiat dealer had my car for 9 days but still failed to get a replacement blue thingy (can you tell I don't really understand what it is?) and said it will cost £400 to have it replaced anyway. In the meantime, have to take the car on a journey every couple of days else the battery goes flat again.
Now I know this will sound naive, but can't I just disconnect it in some way, if this is what is draining the battery. Take out a fuse or something?
Any thoughts gratefully received!

Hi, :)
and welcome to FF,

electrics - the worst things in my mind..

Blue and Me is a Microsoft package for Audio / Radio , etc in a semi-clever way.

there SHOULD be a way of resetting it,
and IF actually draining the battery - you can probably physically disconnect it,

there are supposedly bits of kit that can MIMIC it's place in the cars wiring - so you won't have lots of daft warning messages.

look here - for the basic electrics;https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-mk2...alternator-parasitic-drain-testing-guide.html

there is a Blue and ME section,
have a good look to see if there are any decent fixes mentioned.

I'd avoid a FIAT dealer fora new part.their labour rates are so high,
and a decent auto electrician should be better trained for the job in hand.

in the meantime,
I would use one of the basic 12Volt solar panels, to save you having to drive so often.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-4-5W-...195705?hash=item28197b30f9:g:YCQAAOSwZVlXvsWk

Thanks for that Charlie, that's helpful. It seems logical to just remove the fuse and see what happens.
Now all I have to do is locate the fuses .
I got Physics 'A' level 42 years ago. How hard can it be?

Hard....you need a 1st in Quantum Engineering with Distinction on Cambus Electronics...........hahaha.

Great when these things work......otherwise....(n)(n)(n)(n)

Apart from that, welcome to the forum, for all things Qubo/Fiorino.

Cheers Qube O.

The blue&me control unit is under the drivers seat. In-clip the blue connector from the top and that will stop your drain. I have had a number of these with this fault but very easy to diagnose and fit so not sure why you've had so many problems sorting it. Also the blue&me control unit will be the same as almost all other fiats and will fit and work just the same

Me again! I rushed out to the car this morning to try and remove the Blue and Me. It's sort of incorporated in a cup holder and cigarette lighter combo. I tried wrenching it out (!) and slid the Blue and Me bit forward to reveal a bit you stick the thingy in (who knew it slid forward? Wow. ) but I don't see how I can remove it without taking out the lighter bit and leaving a hole in the car next to the handbrake. Not that I car about a hole, just reluctant to rip the car apart.
Am I being a complete plonker?

The control unit for the blue&me is definitely under the drivers seat as long as the car has had no conversion works done. There you will see the blue connector on the top. Un-clip that and your drain will be gone

That's certainly interesting, perhaps they changed the place of fitting at some point, but mine is 100% under the passenger seat......zero/zilch/nothing at all, apart from cobwebs under the drivers seat !
Mines a 2009 reg.
Indeed had a problem with it under warranty, and was there and watching when the dealer removed/fixed/refitted it........

Hi both! Many thanks for the replies. I looked under the passenger side. Ditto cobwebs and a dog lead (not mine!) but no wires. Under the drivers seat (nearly lost my backside which was sticking out into the road, but .... Found a swan vesta sized black box with a royal blue socket attached to a bundle of wires. I'm assuming this is it! I tried to trace where the wires went but they disappeared somewhere and I was in danger of being run over.
So now I'm trying to pluck up the courage to disconnect these wires. You are SURE nothing bad will happen? The steering wheel won't fall off? The brakes won't fail half way down the M4?

Are you able to take a pic of the unit under the drivers seat and send it to my mobile 07815493380. Then I can tell you if what you see is the unit in question

Happen if what you've found is under the drivers seat, then it must just be production changes. As I said mines a 2009, so a bit long in the tooth, (like its owner). Defo under passenger seat, and a whole heap bigger than a swan vesta sized box.....look forward to hearing the outcome..........best of luck.
Cheers Qube O.

Wel, I've taken the pictures without being run over, so that's a start.
Now, you will think me prehistoric, but I only have a 20th century phone that can't take pictures! But, I do have an iPad with the pictures on and an email, so I can either email the pictures to one or both of you, or I will put them on here, if only I can work out how.
I'm more to be pitied than blamed!
Thank you for your patience and tolerance!
Janet

Hey Ho......different to mine, I think.....defo different colour, mines just like a galvanised/silver type colour, not that that means owt !! , and cables go in different place.
Will be interested in what our friend 'burrowsdeano' comes back with.
My apologies if my trying to help has muddied the water.....
Cheers Qube O.
