Hi, I'm a Newbie from Australia. I have just purchased a Fiat 500 1.4 Lounge Duallogic. About 35 years ago I had an old Fiat Bambino amd have always loved the style. Must admit to being a bit nervous to admit to buying the auto after reading the mostly scathing reviews. Is anyone out there actually happy with the Duallogic?

its ok. the main issue is reliability, and the lack of Fiat caring when things go down = ) So as long as it doesn't break its OK, but if it starts messing up you are in trouble, both psychologically and financially!

Thanks. Imguess it's just down to fingers crossed nothing major goes wrong for a while.

Almost 3 years on, I have been very happy with the Dualogic gearbox on my TA85 that I bought new. The Fiat independent specialist that I use, says that the Selespeed control unit is very reliable and the same unit is used across the fiat range (Panda/Punto/500). He reckons the made problem being that Fiat dealers don’t see enough of them. This company reckoned they are generally trouble free for the first 6-8 years and the dealers don’t understand them. They would rather replace the main components, rather than repairing or reconditioning. The problem is that the complete Dualogic/Selespeed unit is £1300 or $6000AUS
In the UK there are a number of people that recondition them for around £500 (new seals, motor bushes & sensors). The problem in Australia is the huge cost of the replacement unit from Italy.

My OH is on her 3rd Dialogic 1.2. but never keeps beyond 3 yrs old. She is already thinking about what colour etc. she wants next year.

Had a problem with her 1st one when it would suddenly go into Neutral without warning. Not very funny when you are in an outside lane doing 70mph.

However as it was in it's 3rd yr (dealership part of the warranty) it was fixed without any issue.

As has been mentioned after 3 yrs old without a warranty I would have reservations.

Just about to take delivery of my third Dualogic (from new to 3y/o),
1. 1.2
2. TwinAir
3. Abarth

All have been reliable & been happy with both of 'em, although the TwinAir is much better with the Dualogic than the 1.2 (apart from fuel economy as I'm heavy footed!). The 1.2 sometimes delayed changing down to 1st, but easy enough to flick the gear lever or paddles (& you just get used to it). Dualogic is much happier with the T/A, so assume the extra power of the 1.4 will be great too.
I'm unable to drive a manual hence using the Dualogic - they are much better than most small car automatics.

Must admit I had a TA (from new) for 18 months with Dualogic and it was a fantastic drive. Put some bigger cars to shame getting away from traffic lights.
