Hi this site is really confusing lol.

All I want to know is I have a fiat 500 with day lights. if the lights are not working will it pass an MOT or will they need changing.

Would the MOT tester advise you of this.
thanks

I've turned mine off. Don't see the point in them, and I always feel I'll get complacent always having them. The amount of people I see driving with DRLS on at night is shocking.

DRL's are not testable in themselves, but if they also function as sidelights, that part of the functionality must work or the car should be failed.

From the MOT testers manual:

Those are the same people that used to drive without any lights at dusk, DRL are great for them.

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean.

Problem is, they just assume "oh there's lights always on, that's cool", or assume their automatic lights will do the trick. Ugh.

They are also the same people who drive with no rear lights or no headlights and fail to even realise the correct lights are not on, makes you wonder if they should be driving? Like the guy behind me in the tunnel lights on full beam and did not even notice "that blue light" on the dash.

Know that feeling. SO many numpties. The one that gets me is people who either put fog lights on the moment it rains, and blind everyone, or drive with 1meter visibility, and have NO lights on. Except those trusty DRLS!

I followed a "youth" in a Fiesta the other day. And I was driving along and something just was not making sense to me. And I realised every time he braked, only his middle light came on, and the two rear ones didn't. Never seen that on a car. Every other light worked perfectly.

Two blown stop lights is a daily thing in AU, shows that the car hasn't been to a mechanic in a long time. I knew someone who ran a car from new to 100,000km (at which point it was stolen) without insurance or a single service.

As you say UFI, a daily thing. I don't think I go out on a single trip where I don't see a vehicle with one, two or even three lights blown. If it was all old cars it might be at least understandable but it's very frequently cars in their first or second year. Theoretically LED's should help solve the problem but they too are prone to water ingress.

I never see it as much as you guys apparently!

Over here you'd be stopped for it in a heartbeat!
