Hey Guys!

Stijn here, from the Netherlands. Long time car enthusiast.
Mainly into French, Swedish and British cars but always had a soft spot for little italians. Had a 2004 Panda before. Loved the way it drove but it was painfully unreliable. I'll probably try and find a better example some other time. Right now I'm sticking to cheap (sub 750 pounds) cars.

My daily driver is a Volvo 440. I was looking for a little runabout since my girlfriend uses the Volvo quite often too and I live in a tiny village away from everything, so I need a car.
I was using the Citroën BX my dad and I share for that but it's too pretty to be parked 'everywhere'. So while looking at 106's, Twingo's and Micra's I got the news that three doors down the road a couple was planning to scrap their Seicento as it had been giving them a hard time. I get along with those people quite well so I rang their bell and told them I might be interested in buying it for the scrap price to see if I could still save it.

Turns out the thing has a new APK (Dutch MOT), two new tires and a new headgasket. I didn't drive it, didn't even look at it, just figured I'd buy it for 99 pounds... There's a quick 'phone picture from the car'-photo in the attachment. Pretty pics coming after tuesday, when I get the car. They need it until Friday and I'm too busy to get it transferred to my name this weekend.

Anyway, the car as I said has an issue. We're not going to pay big bucks for it as we've just met it, lso we are going to try to fix the issue ourselves, hopefully with your help.

Apart from cars I am a photographer, audiophile, record collector and cat lover.

Finally, I made a really quick video of the little test drive I had this afternoon. I can't share the youtube link here because of my 5 post limit, but I'm not a bot so if you search for "ZmkRgVTYQL0" on youtube, you'll find it.
The video is made for my dad and I was rather enthousiastic as I didn't know until 3 minutes before that video that I was going to drive it :D.
The issue with the car is rather obvious.
Camerawork is shaky but I obviously had to drive too. Phone's battery ran out, sorry for the abrupt ending but at least you'll have an idea of what I bought for my 99 pounds ;).

The Cinquecento put a bit smile on my face while driving it so I hope I can give it a few more years to live :).

It's a lovely colour indeed. Pity it has some matte parts.
I am going to polish it obviously but it won't be perfect.
We'll just get it 'as good as it gets'.
Maybe get a new hood.
But let's fix it first.

First three suspects are sensors.
- MAP
- LAMBDA
- Coolant temperature sensor

in the UK, a "hood" is a fabric cover

do you mean the engine cover..??;) U.S. english:rolleyes:

Charlie

That's what you get when you're not English and roaming around on the Internet. A massive mixture of English and US English.
At least I don't call a liquid "gas" ;).

Would bonnet work in UK English?
In Dutch we do, indeed, call it a 'motorkap', 'enginecover'.

I was at my parents where the car is parked until it's fixed and I took some pictures. Didn't bring a camera but that's maybe for the best as the car isn't exactly clean yet. So here's some phone pics. At least you all can see what we're talking about and why I'm giving this car a chance. It's pretty epic :)

As you can see, apart from a disintegrating steering wheel the interior looks fine. Exterior has a few little dents, nothing major. The Paint is coming off of the roof and bonnet/engine cover. Planning on making the roof matte black and maybe finding another engine cover. First hope to get it running properly though.

I've driven it today as you can see in my technical post and I just love the way it steers. It's a brilliant little car to drive.

So... It's up, running and on my driveway.
I just cleaned the interior
13245221_1737141516563680_590916286547889065_n.jpg

And replaced the two original dashboard speakers, of which one was rattling, with two coaxial pioneers.
Still need to find something to replace the broken rear shelf ones though. There's holes in them (13cm/5 inch) anyhow so I might as well fill them with new speakers.

With the rear seat down it's like a Mini truck!

And that comes in handy as I have a pile of audio to take to the local record store :D
