Hello,

I've been a frequent visitor to this forum over the last few years - since my brother bought a Mk1 Punto 55 S as his first car. It's been a great source of information for us, but I never bothered registering given that I didn't personally own a FIAT. Well, now that's changed...

In addition to my beloved '97 Ford Fiesta LX (motivated by the 1242 cc 16V Zetec motor), I'm now the proud owner of a 1998 Punto Cabrio (coincidentally also with a 1242 cc engine).

It seems the FIAT Forum will likely be the best source of information and help, should I encounter any issues with my Cab. And now I'm an owner, I hope I can share what knowledge I gain from my own experience with everyone, hence my registering. I can't wait to share some pictures of the car with you, and see what you think to it.

Regards,

Had never noticed the Ford 1.25 is the same capacity as the Fiat motor. Cabriolet's are cool  You can also boast that the Fiat 1242 has an extra 13hp compared to the Ford (y)
Cabriolets certainly are cool - I've just voted so on the FF cool wall, in fact. The FIAT 1242 might make more power than the Ford unit, but in the Cabrio at least, it has an extra 40 kg to lug around. In reality, I think the two cars are quite similar. I'd still like to take each of them down a quarter mile to find out, though!

the fiat engine will have more guts, without trying to sound biased, fiat engines of the same capacity as ford have always and still are generally more powerful. Not that much in it though really - couple of horse power tops. Although now quite a few share engines, I'm not up on fords but does a new Ka not use a fiat engine??

The cab is a bit heavier than a normal one too, strengthening bits as they cut the roof off and all that.

Anyhow, welcome to here  enjoy your stay ;)
