Hi. I'm new on this and wonder if anyone knew where I could order a 0.9 fiat 500 twinair oil sump pan as mines has cracked. I am struggling to find any website that sells them. Thanks!

Hi, and welcome,:)

unusual request for a TA.. as you'll know they've only been around for @3years.., so used ones are thin on the ground

I'm guessing it's Alloy..so COULD be welded:idea:

BUT FIAT dealer,
or a specialist like SHOP4PARTS MAY have access too,

Charlie

You could try the famous auction site, just type in Fiat 500 0.9 breaking, and you'll find TA's being broken for spares. You might get lucky and find someone willing to break an engine for parts. The following link is an example. Please note, I'm not in any way affiliated to the seller, just a pointer:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-500-...-wheel-bolt-/171924468955?hash=item28077f34db

I'm surprised to read the sump pan has cracked  What sort of mileage and age is your vehicle?

Thanks Charlie il have a look! My cars 3 year old but tbh it's had nothing but problems. So far I've had the master cylinder replaced, coil pack, fuel injector and ecu. It is pretty bad. Reason it is cracked is because I lowered the car myself and had no choice but to go over a speed bump and I've had to seal it up. But want to get a new one now.

That's my car!

Sump pan?

Are you saying your PLASTIC sump pan has broken?

I did an oil-change on our 500TA last month and the plastic pan is held on by six bolts. I jacked the car up, put axle stands under the suspension and took the pan out so I could get at the sump.

It didn't surprise me that ours was quite well damaged. The 500 is very low, and the pan often scrapes on the roads round here. To be honest, I reckon ours is not long for this world. The car has just had her fourth birthday and I'd be surprised if the pan makes it to her sixth birthday.

Regards,
Mick.

Funny thing, the 1.4 has an under-tray which frequently hits the road with my lowered so that is never an issue for me = )

mind you your suspension looks even lower than mine, way too low!

,

If it is flat, then if you remove it, before it ends up in bits, then buy a sheet of Correx (corrugated plastic sheeting, ie estate agents boards) and use it as a template, make a new one, and fit, then keep the original for refitting on resale.

No it's my actual alloy sump pan that I have cracked. I don't have a plastic under tray that was ripped off quite a long time ago. Just cause I'm female doesn't meant I don't know about cars. I lowered it myself having to make up my own Alan key torque just to get strut mount off. I was only on this too see if anyone knew anywhere I could order a sump pan not a piece of plastic. Thanks for the help but I think il get it welded like a few said earlier.

perhaps you could sell your lowering kit, and buy a new sump pan, at least this way, it shouldn't happen again.:)

I'm lost here.

What is a "sump pan"?

If it's a sump and it's cracked, it must mean that the engine oil has drained away or at least is leaking badly.

If it's aluminium, you'd be very lucky to get it welded. Usually, the alu bits on a car are cast, and cast alu doesn't weld very easily at all.

Good luck,
Mick.

you could try Breakeryard.com or 247spares.com

You put your request in and they have a network of breakers who will reply if they have one.

I've had some luck with these but at times they ask stupid money. Even though TA's have only been around 3yrs I'm sure there will be some being broken for spares with damaged engines so they would sell the sump.

You will need to find a really good welder to weld cast alloy but it can be done, maybe someone who welds cracked alloy wheels would have the right skills. Google alloy wheel repair. Most just refurb. them but some do welding.
