Hi just wondered how hard would it be to get a set a GBT alloys on a 500.

From what I can remember about wheels ............

Not only have you to think about the number of bolt holes, you need to know the pitch circle diameter of the position of the holes.

You also need to know that any tyre you fit will fit under the wheel-arch plus or minus suspension travel, plus you need to know the offset ............ ie how far the wheel sits in or out from the hub. This affects the steering and if you can go to full lock without the tyres rubbing on the wheel-arches or not.

Dunno what you want would work or not. Just advising that these things need to be considered.

Good luck,
Mick.

Well I've done a quick google search, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the punto seems to have a PCD of 4x100 (or at least recent ones do!), whereas the 500 has a PCD of 4x98. So that's your first problem; the bolt holes will not line up properly. There are solutions: adapters, wobble bolts, but unsurprisingly people aren't huge fans of these.

If you do decide to get them, as said above, you'd need to check the offset (how far out from the hub the wheel effectively "begins"), the width and size of the alloy (obvious) - but also you'd need to make sure you got tyres that didn't change the radius of the wheel.

Where these the wheels you were after? There might be similar made for a 500!

Thanks for replying, Yes there the alloys I bought last week, a bargain £250 brand new with new Bridgestones on. I tried them on the front seem ok but the back move the hole hub about an inch either way.

I checked CB for each car and read them the wrong way 500 is 58.1 and Punto is 56. Would I be able to bore the alloys out to 58.1?

Yep - most engineering places should be able to make the holes bigger without too much hassle.

Just check the wheels at full lock and check the rolling radius hasn't changed - will trash your speedo!

Don't know if it helps any, but im just away to fit a set of Punto
(not Grande Punto) Sporting 15" alloys to my wifes 500 tonight.
Checked,
4 x 98PCD,
central bore is the same too, 58.1mm,
offset is different by 2mm (33mm to 35mm) nothing drastic.

Its really a winter set of wheels and tyres but want to see how they look now (the big kid in me!).

Happily put up a pic' if you like?

You are right! Most FIATs have PCD 4x98, but the Grande Punto is based on the same platform as the Opel Corsa D and therefore has PCD 4x100 which most Opels (Vauxhalls) have. Also the successors of the Grande Punto, the Punto Evo and the Punto (2012), inherited PCD 4x100.
