Hi everyone. My son is a first time driver and recently purchased a 2006 grande punto from a private seller. Within five days of purchase it broke down and according to the RAC it needs a gearbox, clutch and drive shaft. It's currently parked up and I suppose I'm just looking for advice on parts. I have been getting quotes from breakers but the prices are vastly different. This is a bit of a mare for us and just proves that you shouldnt buy a car without a mechanic going with you. Is there a chance the RAC could be wrong and I need a second opinion before buying parts? Hopefully I have attached a photo to this showing a part that has split in two. Not sure what it is.
