Hello:
Need some help with replacing my key fob. I have a 2013, 500s. Lost my second fob now I have no back up. Got a used one off e-bay, got a key cut, took it to Fiat dealer and they told me it cannot be reprogrammed. Has anyone had a used fob programmed? If so how. Is Fiat giving me a run a round?
Thanks

fiat want to sell you their key direct for more money.

You need a new key supplied specifically for your car. A used remote cant be used on a 2013 model. On pre 2012 cars a second hand fob can be programmed if the immobiliser chip is replaced in the key. But not by the dealer you need an Auto Locksmith that does eprom programming to do it.

So, it sounds like The dealer is my only option:yuck:
I really don't like having to go back to them(n)
Thanks for the info.

Are you in the UK? There's a guy programming keys in Leeds on eBay who is meant to be very good?

I am in the USA and have talked to two dealers one tried and it cost me $68 for nothing, and the other just said it cannot be done. If I have to buy a new fob I am going to try to get the first dealer to program for free. They should have known that you can't reprogram. I don't really think they know what can be done.

I really never found anything definitive on the net either. That why I am here now.

If you can live with a non remote key as a spare then you can have a clone made from your existing key. Have a call round your local locksmiths and see what they can offer. Keyline also make an aftermarket remote for making copies of an existing remote you can try contacting to see if they have an agent local to you http://www.keyline-usa.com/

Well the replacement key fob drama has come to an end with me purchasing a new fob from the dealer and them agreeing to program at no added charge.

Bottom line here is the fobs are NOT reprogrammable as is. You may be able to get the chip replaces if you can find someone that can do the. Then you have to pay to see if Fiat can program it. Looking back I should have just bought the new fob and moved on.

Thanks to those that replied and helped me find my way:D
