Hi guys, just got myself a 2006 punto, really happy with it and needing some input, looking to mod it a bit, new wheels, suspension, engine etc, what are the best things to do on these cars? :)

What engine and spec is it?

I like mods subtle personally so upgrades like Abarth lights front and rear, smoked side indicator lenses, debadged grille and boot, de-wipered rear, colour coded handles and mirrors if yours aren't already.

The best thing to do IMO is get it lowered.

Are you wanting performance mods or just make it look better suspension wise?

im not sure yet, im picking the car up tomorrow, (this is my upgrade from a corsa), its the 2006 model, 1.2, unsure whether it is 8v or 16v, id like to at least get a little bit more power out of it aswell as body looks, was thinking punto evo bumpers?

Depending on which Corsa you had it might be a bit familiar as the same base is used for the GP and the Corsa D.

The 1.2's are all 8v as far as I know and can be a bit slow to 60 as the GP is quite heavy. The best way to get better performance sadly is not to have bought the 1.2 in the first place - sorry

fair enough haha, needed a 1.2 for insurance reasons :/ i heard you can remap them, has anyone actually done that or is there any point?

I saw someone on here remap there 1.2 (cant remember their name though) but the gains would never be huge.

With respect, the best thing you can do is style mods. I'd stay away from engine mods as its just never going to be that much faster.

The best thing you can do is lower it, the GP sits like a 4x4 its so high! I've lowered by 40mm but would still like it to be lower lol

Abarth lights on a blue GP look great too so maybe look into that ;)

Mine (2006 1.2 Active) does go OK when you wind it up but it will never be fast

If you bought the 1.2 for Insurance reasons I'm not sure modifying the engine would be a good idea, once you've declared that to your insurance company it will almost inevitably cost you more
