Please bare with me as I'm only just learning about all of this?
I have a 2006 Punto, 1.9l multi jet turb diesel (I think you might call them something different as I'm in Australia?).
It started blowing serious black smoke & loosing power so we replaced the EGR valve & cleaned out as many pipes as we could. Also discovered a large split in the inter cooler pipe so replaced pipe & clamps.
The car still lost power & blew smoke so we put old EGR valve back in (closed off) to stop from blocking new one until we had got rid of soot residue. Have driven for a week with old valve in. Power is fine & car actually running really well but STILL BLOWING too much BLACK SMOKE on acceleration? Had a look at old valve today & it has remained clean but now notice a small amount of oil in valve?
I realise I will need to get a mechanic to look at it but would like to have some ideas first (if anyone has them) as I find being a female dealing with mechanics I need to have some knowledge to avoid being ripped! I am also really fascinated with this now & would love to get to the bottom of it? Any help/advice is really appreciated
