Hi folks,i have just joined so thought it only polite to introduce myself.

I'm Al from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire,i am going to test drive a 500l trekking 1.3 semi auto on monday.I have a manual Nissan Juke on motability at the moment but due to my health getting worse i need to ditch manual cars.Absolutely fell in love with the looks of the trekking when i saw it.:D

Morning Redders66! Welcome to the forum!

Hope you like the test drive, I'm sure you will :) It will be interesting what differences you see between the Juke and the 500L. Having owned the Juke will give you a good knowledge of the size of car an what else is out there.

I don't own the trekking, but have a 1.3 manual, but still find it a great car, so fingers crossed you have a good drive today and enjoy it!

Have fun!

Welcome to the forum and hopefully to the world of 500L ownership.:)

Hi

I'd be interested how you find the auto box ... I'm thinking about this car for my next ... bit concerned about the performance... not that I'm a boy racer (any more) just want reasonable overtaking performance. I think a 1.3 Diesel and auto box might be a bit too sluggish.

Most of the 500L's I've seen out & about have been 1.3 Multijets, and about half of them have been the auto's, so they must be pretty decent.

I've driven a 1.3 Multijet manual and whilst it's not gonna set any records, it was more sprightly than you'd imagine a 1.3 to be. That was in the bigger MPW version too, so in the standard 500L I'd imagine you shouldn't be too disappointed.

Obviously if it is a problem, the forthcoming 500X will have auto/semi-auto options available with more powerful engines. These look to be a fair bit pricier than the 500L though.

I had a test drive in the 1.3 multijet semi auto yesterday,i was really surprised how smooth the gearbox is,for saying it's only a 1.3 engine it was really nippy, plenty of power for overtaking.I placed an order while i was there for the opera red colour.Should get it in about 2 weeks as it is already in group stock.
