First try so excuse me if I get it wrong We have a Doblo Family 7 seater Diesel JHD on a 55 plate we get heat eventually but the fan has stopped blowing so nothing on screen etc. Also really hard to start sometimes we had the Glow plugs changed before the winter but this seems to be worse now any ideas on either matter ?

Hi,does fan work on any speed? Is it getting harder to start as weather is getting colder is it 1.3 or 1.9 need as much info as you can both problems could be a whole host of things!

Was thinking the same myself could be loads things, more details needed.

No the fan doesn't work at all now :-( It did work on setting 3 and 4 only for ages but not at all now . Strangely enough she started better before we had the glow plugs changed but our warning light for them had been on for a while and as Winter was coming ....... again strangely enough starts pretty well first thing and seems to be harder to start when warm ! for example we drive to our Friends about 130 miles away if we stop at the services (as you do) she is really hard to start again but if we drive all the way there + park up for few hours then go out she starts pretty much first time . We have a 1.9 by the way and on the whole kept well serviced we were hoping the fan could be fixed without a hefty garage visit

I too would bet on the rheostat, you normally find speed 4 works as that is full voltage, but i have in the past had 2 or 3 speeds work, that's where i would start. As for the starting issue its an unusual one, does engine sound like it is cranking over fast enough, generally engines are harder to turn over when cold, one thing springs to mind the camshaft position sensor, the pcm needs to know the camshaft position in relation to the crankshaft on start up only,i have had the same problem on a variety of cars,it should put a fault code in pcm, would be helpful if car had a diagnostic scanner put on it may point to problem or at least help, you can buy a cheap one for EOBD on ebay or amazon for not a lot of money.

Thanks I'm sure this will make sense to my Godfather who knows more about cars than me. Is the rheostat easy to find ?( Both on the car and to buy!!?)

hi again,
the rheostat is a resistor that effectively S l o w s the fan from full voltage 12Volts(#4),
down in 3 other stages.., speeds 1,2 and 3..,

not normally too hard..just involve crouching next to footwell with door open,

part is £10 /£20 , but worth checking the wiring 1st..,

Not sure where abouts it is on doblo never done one, some one on here is sure to know, usually easy couple of screws and a connector

Same thing happened to my 06 Doblo. Works on 4 only, then stopped. Replaced the resistor pack and a fuse and it works now. It's all in the eLearn guide (see downloads section on this site) under:

Fault diagnosis / L Climate Control / L50 heater not working

Bits on ebay were £12. Need a cheap multimeter to check continuity and voltage levels.
