Hi I'm new here but not new to Fiat's I have previously owned a 53 plate doblo with no problems at all. However I have recently purchased a 10 plate 1.6 doblo multijet diesel. and am having problems with it.

I have had the car for 2 months and it has been returned to the garage twice already. Now granted most of the problems have been sorted but I am having a problem with it jumping out of 1st gear when pulling off. I also sometimes have a problem going into 4th when coming down from 5th. As I say it has been back twice with this problem the first time they told me it was the wrong gear box oil which they say they changed. I still did it so we took it to our local fiat dealership they told us the gear box needed realining or a new gear box. We returned it to the garage and told them what we had been told. They rang us after 4 days and said there had been a link inside the gear box not connected properly and it had been sorted.

That was 3 weeks ago the car is still jumping out of gear it was better for about a day and then started as normal. My husband rang the garage again yesterday to be told even though they had extended the warrenty on the gear box they would not do anything even if we took it back.

They are now trying to tell us that every Doblo they have had on the forcourt of that age does the same thing and its a thing with the gear box. The garage is 50 miles away and on back roads so its a 2hour journey each way every time we take it back. There is a main road way but road works make the journey longer. We went to this garage as they advertised the car it is the car version and not the van our local dealer can only get the vans or could order a new car.

Is there anyone here that can confirm this is the case our local dealer has told us it is not true they have never had a problem like this with a doblo.

I show my dogs and use the Doblo to go to shows. I drive many miles with the dogs on my own and I do not want to get standed anywere on my own with a gear box problem but its getting to the stage when I would rather drive my old 53 ex taxi high mileage but reliable doblo than my newer one that is supposed to be better. Any advise would be appreciated as we are now considering phoning trading standards as we are not happy with the servise this garage is giving us.

Hi, and welcome to FF :)
is this a FIAT dealer..??,

wrong oil sounds VERY suspicious to me..,
95% you've got a mechanical problem there, and it won't fix itself !:bang:

CAB / trading standards is certainly worth a go..,

as is an independent assessment, any Pug / Citroen dealers nearer to you..??;)

It is a fiat dealership but is 50 miles away from home we have offered to take it to our local dealership and ask them to do a written report but they still say they will do nothing as their gear box 'expert' says there is nothing wrong.

We have told them we are thinking of contacting trading standards which we thought would get them to do something but that did nothing. I have now sent a rather long email to Fiat customer services to find out what they would advise us to do.

We got the idea they were a bit dodgy when we first returned the car as one of the problems was a knocking on the front. This they told us was a collapsed bearing in the drivers side wheel and had strained the spring this was sorted. You may say this could happen at any time but 3 days after the car had past its MOT? surely the problem should have been picked up at the time.
