Hi everyone just bought a 'm' reg 1.6 Cabrio as a bit of a project this is my 6th Fiat having had a Supermirafiori, mk1 Panda , mk1 punto, mk 1 Brava and currently a newish 500 ! . The car is a bit untidy as expected needing tlc including bumpers etc , the hood looks pretty new but the mechanism doesn't come all the way to the windscreen without help by pushing up on the last joint to make straight, is this an inexpensive fix or am I doomed ?! I really want to get this car sorted without breaking the bank , any advice out there ? I live in Newcastle btw

Welcome seg10538 (y), from your previous history sounds like you've always had the ol' Fiat blood pumping through your veins :p, some real corkers there too :)

In regards to your issue, tbh I'm not an expert on the Punto Cabrio. Albeit from what you've described it does sound a bit pricey to rectify, but could also be something very simple too? Always a hard one when you inherit a car with someone else's problems! still having said that, is there a Fiat dealer near you? I've had a couple of issues before and found the one near me to be quite helpful? (to a degree without having to part with any cash lol;)) I'm sure someone on here may have some suggestions for you also :)

Helps a lot, when closing the hood, to let all 4 windows down a bit. You may find it engages. also, there's tension straps inside the hood layers, ea side of the rear window, which you can reach in and slacken off a bit or undo completely. My local pukka body shop, also do restorations - that kind of calibre - are good with hoods, seen it all.

Thanks everyone I'll try to locate the straps to see if it helps
