Hi,

About to pick up my new toy. After 3 years in a (now very battered) Ford Puma it was time to get something new to play with.

I have loved the 500 since it was released, even renting a couple on various holidays so as I was in the fiat dealership anyway I started looking.

I settled on this 2012 twin air Plus with a body kit. I pick her up on Monday and I can't wait.

The driving position will take a little getting used to but I doubt it will take long.

Here she is, name to be decided (the puma was called Dita because the letters of the reg looked like sexy legs)

Yeah, I am going to miss the Puma, but she was starting to cost big money to keep her running. But yes, it needs to be something more than another box on wheels to replace it.

With the bigger Abarth wheels the 500 has got she grips as well as the puma, so for hacking around Milton Keynes (the land of the never ending roundabouts) she is going to be a hoot to drive.

snap re the puma...where I live, in deepest, darkest rural Norfolk, I simply have to have a reliable car and poor Flissy was not at that stage anymore. My poor darling. (n)

I may look into different springs (whatever, is that right!?) as suggested at the meet on Sunday as roads round here (and partic the Fens) can be a bit bumpy but, oh boy, she's right up there with Flissy for fun on the twisty turnies...goes a lot faster than I'd been led to believe, as well! (y)

Have you actually got her yet or is it next Monday?

Next Monday, Tested her yesterday but they are replacing the front tyres, pads and disks before I pick her up. So, I am going to have a last Hoorah with Dita this weekend.

Upgrading the springs?? Interesting idea. She is quite bouncy over the speed bumps (yes, I know, I should slow down but where is the fun in that?)

absolutely...the fen roads sort of 'ribbon up' with all the water underneath so it is a particularly bouncy surface but you cant really see the bumps. At one point, I left my seat! lol...i'm not quite sure exactly what they meant about the springs (not technical, me!) but it could be an option if that happens regularly!

*is it Monday yet?* ;)

I recall being told by a Puma owning friend that it was a cracking car as long as there was no sign of snow, in which case it failed to grip any of the roads by her house :D
That said, I'm yet to try a 500 up my rather steep street

Lovely looking car, mine is a Mario (small, cute, Italian). Daughter want's a Luigi when she passes her test.
Enjoy!

I've seen Mia and Kimmy so far, but I don't think they fit. Bubble does't seem original enough.

Jennifer may work (as in Ennis, small, cute and sporty)

Is it Monday yet?

My sons Clio is as clear as day, FL 07. It's been Flo from day one.

Funny how blokes give cars girls name and girls give cars boys names. (though I did own a Mog called Blossom once which seems to be an exception to that rule) :D

Jen is good, how about Rosso? (red in Italian)

no, no, no...cars are all laydeez...motorbikes are boys! :)

My number plate is a bit near Glenys but, much as I love all things Welsh, she had to be RosaBella cos she's rose red and multa bella! :)

Something will come to me I'm sure

I've had two cars with boys names (Phil and Simon) but all the rest have been girls, Jen (to be confirmed) will be no different.

Not got a name for my lovely volare blue 500 although I did have a few choice words for it this afternoon....an alarm went off & it is asking me to Please check the Start Stop (at least it is polite), loads of warning symbols are on the clock! Got hold of the garage, so it's going in Friday. My last car, Dermott the Fiesta always had the engine warning light on...faulty sensor!
