Hello all,

Bought a new 9 seat Scudo combi just before Christmas as a family MPV and tow vehicle. In general it has exceeded my expectations. Very good to drive, refined engine, clever comfortable seating. It's the L2 version so will seat 9 and still take a fair bit of luggage. I went for the 9 seat because a lot of the time it carries 6 so with either the back row tilted forward or removed I can fit all the kids bikes in etc. The van doesn't feel too large when driving, visibility is good all round (full window van) and the sliding doors make car park parking fine.

The only thing that has dissapointed me (but it's a biggy) is the apparent poor rust proofing to the chassis. Once beyond the sills all the underfloor box sections and floor pannels are just painted. There appears very little underseal. The areas that are undersealed appear to be finished to a very poor quality. Can anyone tell me do these vans have a rust problem and if so where are they most prone to rust? I plan to inject the cavities and apply underseal in the summer. Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of a Cavity injection diagram for the Fiat Scudo? I have had these for previous cars and they are great as they highlight all the non obvious box sections, how they are internally divided and where it is necessary to drill for access. Also which access holes are safe to plug and which are to be left as drainage holes.

Although the visibility out the back is actually better than the vectra I used to have I am looking to add some reversing sensors (probably at the same time I fit a tow bar) primarily as I reverse across a yard where small children play and it's for peace of mind. I've noticed that you can get some quite cheap sensor/camera packages. Can anyone advise a good inexpensive camera/sensor package that's compatible with a tow bar and bike racks etc?

I'll update the forum on my choice camera/sensor, how they perform and how the underseal/ wax injection work goes and hopefully this can be some help to other people.

Kindest regards,

Army.
