Hello Folks,

My name is Tim. I live on the east coast of Scotland , near to Dundee.

About to pick up a 58 plate Sedici 1.9 JTD.

Not new to Fiats having owned 2 x Punto's, 2 x Brava's and worked on a Panda.

I mostly do my own vehicle maintenance and am happy to both offer advice when I have the experience and to receive advice from those that do.

So Far, so Good....

Only driven the car for 1 hour, from the dealers to my home, via Motorway, sweeping A roads and Unclassified Country lanes.

Early days but really pleased with my purchase. It is only the basic Dynamic edition , but has all of the basics that were on my 'Must Have' list when looking for a Used car.

Never owned a Diesel before, so initially felt like I was driving one of the Vans at work, but the burble from the engine soon disappears once it's warmed up and moving. feels like it pulls well too.

The bottom line for me is that I keep feeling the need to pop outside every now and again just to look at my new toy, and that can't be a bad thing.

The only minor problem that I have encountered so far is the restricted view around the A Pillars, especially when negotiating around corners & junctions at slow speed, it feels like somebody has popped a blindfold on for a fraction of a second, and was quite disconcerting when I first experienced it.
Sure I will get used to it and isn't an issue when driving along on the open road.

I was looking at the Suzuki SX4, but so pleased I found the Fiat alternative, the roads are littered with Suzuki's these days. ;)

(In saying that my Suzuki Bandit GSF1200 motorbike is my main squeeze, it exists in my garage only to waste petrol and money but makes me make me grin every time I use it... ).

Welcome fellow Tim,
The 1.9JTD benefits from blocking off the EGR valve. See my posts for details.
I took my Sedici to Scotland in your very snowy winter a couple of years ago. superb.

Mine has come with a 26 month mechanical warranty, and 2 years worth of MOT's and Servicing.
I bought this car for a break from doing heavy maintenance jobs for a while.
So I don't really want to cock about with it for the moment. It drives well so I am not going to 'Fix It'.... just yet :)

I have one minor cosmetic job to fix , the moulding round the wheel arch has come loose, but that's my limit for the mo.

a mate at work had an 2.0 Audi A6 that needed a new EGR valve every 12 months ! they kept clogging up and shearing the valve shaft, he did drive 40k per year though !

The blocking plate should be fitted on the exhaust side of the EGR, this prevents it (and the inlet manifold) clogging up; if the EGR piston cannot move the ECU will register a fault and go into limp mode......
I agree fitting a plate at this stage may affect your warranty but worth considering in the future......
