My fiat punto 1.8 Hgt is sluggish, has flat spots & generally lacking in power, I thought it might be the spark plugs, so I changed them but the problem still persists & is getting worse. Any ideas what this could be?? Thanks in advance

A problem with the air filter ? My 2 cents or a problem with the fuel filter. Have you ever changed it ? Following manufacturer advice it should be done every 30.000 km but I did at 160.000 and because it was leaking fuel otherwise I didn't even know where it was located

The HGT is quite beyond the skill set of the "average" owner.

Symptoms are not unlike the cam timing having slipped -- if it should jump or break the engine will be scrap.

My advice, find an Alfa independent (it's essentially the same engine as a 1.8 Alfa 155, 156, etc) as not many FIAT dealers will have experience of them.

I'm assuming the EML light isn't on.

Hi all, it is a 51 reg, I have been told that my car has a life time fuel filter, that it cannot be changed. I have had a diagnostic done & nothing showed up. I have put some redex fuel system cleaner in. It has helped but not 100%. I'm rapidly running out of options.
