Hi,

I'm new.. and, I've just bought my very first car :yum: . A 2001 mk2 Punto sporting 1.2 16v.

It's a very sexy color (Sprint blue..) (y)

I have a bit of mechanical knowledge and after diggin' out, cutting away and welding in new bits of steel to the floor pan and sills i'm about to start attacking the engine with stuff.

My question to you guys is; What (cheap and cheerful) Mods can i do to the engine to increase performance and its general lastability.

It's done 102k and the engine still runs sweet as a nut. the PO has fitted an aftermarket cone filter and nothing else.

Any advice/ information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers in advance - Rob.

Service - Oil filters air filters etc
Since you'd cleaned up the underbelly - get it undersealed as well, before more rot attacks

Tasteful mods
Wind deflectors - suttle and handy for keeping the booming of open windows
Headlights - upgrade to decent bulbs f/e, Orsam, Phillips etc

A good clean and polish and wax/seal

best way is to keep ontop of things before they get too bad
