I've had the Multiwagon for 2 weeks now, and largely I am happy with it, but a couple of worrying things have been happening:
After a long drive at 60mph, as I slow down at a roundabout & go down through the gears before stopping, it stalls. It's done it also as I move slowly through traffic lights, again after a long journey at speed.
Also, it has started to judder in first gear as I set off from junctions etc.
The clutch seems to engage very high on the pedal.
Does anyone know if these problems may be related or what they might be?
Appreciate any help!

could be yes, your clutch may be on its way out - what mileage is the car? Any proof that the clutch has been done in the past?

My other thought would be the CKP sensor - a good test is to see how the car operates when cold, i.e. before nay long journey...does it stall, judder etc?

a CKP if old and failing, will be worse when hot, because the magnet is far less affective...(y)

It's got 62k on it, and no proof of clutch work.
It has stalled only once on start up, and the judder is on moving off in first gear whether cold or warmed up.

yup, the revelation that its a 1.6 is not very promising.

I could be WAYYYYY off, but you might have an ECU issue....

all I will say now, is go easy on any spending in terms of diagnosis. The CKP is cheap for a 1.6 but I would clean it first see if that helps, then start checking cheap things like fuel filters - but the ECU is a common issue on the 1.6, so keep that in mind when speaking to a mechanic.

I'm not sure if it does it on petrol. I need to test it in the same circumstances. Will let you know when I have, thanks

Thanks for all your help Clivvy. I will discuss with my much more technically minded husband! Will keep you updated.

Had a similar issue with my 1.6 Stilo and turned out to be the injector on one of the cylinders. When driving in first gear it would judder and feel like driving a tractor, but once getting upto 30/40mph would seem fine. Also as you mentioned if sat at lights for long enough the car would just stall. My repair cost £198 but that was with 35% discount.

Hope this helps, keep us updated.

Thank you! I've been monitoring the behaviour of the beast for a while and I certainly think that's worth a try! Will keep you posted!
