Hi all - please be patient as this my first post.

I am trying to reattach/replace the plastic clip that moves the air vent up and down and side to side. To do this I need to take out the central air vent and get behind it as such.

From reading other threads I understand I have to remove the radio and then find the screws to detach the vent which should then slide out.

I have removed the radio but unsure which screws to take out and how to finish the process off. If someone could please help and explain that would be gratefully appreciated. (hopefully pictures explain)

Thanks,

Kallan

Hi,

You do not have to remove the audio to remove the air vent.

Here's what I did:

There's a compartment next to your tomtom holder. Open it up and remove the rubber base in it. You will see a torx screw at the back. Remove that screw.

Next, tape up the tip of a flat screwdriver with masking tape or duct tape (to prevent any scratches), gently insert it between the silver trimmings of the assembly and your dashboard trimmings to open up a small gap (I started from the top).

Shine a light into the gap, you should be able to see some black metal clips holding the assembly to the dashboard in place. There are about 6 of them if I remember correctly. 1 at the top. 2 at each side. 3 at the bottom. You just have to locate them and then undo them gently one by one. Once you're more or less done with that, you will be able to pull the entire assembly out.

Note: The metal clips can come off from the air vent assembly if you're too rough with it. Do it carefully and don't lose any of them or let them fall into the 2 holes where the air comes out. I superglued all the clips to the assembly to prevent from losing them in the event I need to remove the assembly for any reason in future. In case your air vents can't be fixed, the assembly is sold brand new as a complete set and it is damn expensive to replace for a few pieces of plastics. But chances are you might be able to find a used one on Ebay UK. Hope this helps!
