Hello all,

Just thought i'd introduce myself. My name is Chris and I've just got myself a 52 plater Fiat Punto Mia that I'll be cleaning up and returning to it's former glory.

I've been a lifelong VW man, especially Golf's (Mk 1-3). The market is a bit dire at the moment following the death of my last Golf so I saw a bargain when I picked up this Punto. It's a nice little project for me to spuce it up and having been looking online for advice, it seems everything I need is on this forum!

I've just started a list of things to do on this bad boy and hoping to get it ready for summer.

- Remove ghastly stickers from boot door (I'm not a Christian or Welsh)
- De-badge boot door (Badges look worn and it looks cleaner debadged)
- Replace speedo with HGT speedo for temp guage (mechanic friend gave me it for free!)
- Replace CD Player (Old and won't turn off so it's draining the battery)
- Replace battery (struggling to keep a decent charge anymore)
- Induction kit (hopefully grab a focus kit when the price goes back down on ebay)
- Fix manual central locking and passenger door (Central locking is shot and the passenger door can only be opened/closed from the inside
- Check and seal underside (few bits of rust to clear off)
- Full service
- New brake pads

Thankfully have a decent set of Fiat alloys on it for now that are lovely and clean and look decent until I can source some nice ones.

I'm not one to overdo my cars and have a firm belief in a balance of simplicity with design. But if anyone has any other recommendations I'm all ears! I'll sort a pic out in an hour or so.

Here it is:

It is indeed the 1242cc! Impressed with how quick it is after losing my 1.6 golf.

I'm looking forward to this little project. Hopefully get the speedo and rear door cleaned/debadged this weekend.

:rumour: psssst somebody has stole your back doors!

Anyway - When getting the HGT dash put in, ensure that the car is proxy aligned before you go driving
Why?
the dash will flash and the mileage will be wrong

The HGT dash also needs to have LESS miles then the car currently has as well

Ziggy

Cheers Ziggy! It was actually the research I did into the speedo switch which led me here. I'd taken note on your comments before about the mileage and it's safely lower than mine. Thanks regards the aligning too, I'll make sure it's bang on.

As for rear door, you know what I meant ;)
