Hi Guys,

I’m new to the forum and joined because I recently brought a 2002 Punto Mk2 Active 1.2 8v 3 door for my daughter ( £ 350.00 ).
She thanked me by putting it in a ditch on Monday !!

The damage wasn’t too bad, but I need to change the radiator ( finger size hole ) ….. what is the best way to remove / replace it ?

I have searched the forum and can only see threads on bleeding.

Any help would be appreciated as guess what I’m doing over Christmas.

Hi Aton0007,

Thanks for that sounds simples ... I read somewhere that you had to remove the front bumper ! ....... didn't seem to make sense hence the query.

Have a good one.

bonnet up
remove electrical connector to fan
undo the 4 8mm headed screws that fasten the fan cowling onto the radiator
slide this cowling down out of the single rubber gromit behind the bonnet catch as you look down
once out of the gromit slide it to the right of the exhaust twist it and pull it up out of the engine bay or down if car jacked up
get a bowl under bottom radiator hose
put mole grips on the factory clip and twist and tighten till you break the clip be care full as they are razor blades
pull and twist so bottom hose comes off catch old antifreeze in bowl to save money so it can be reused
undo top clip
now to remove radiator you need to pull it up out of its rubber gromits in the radiator support bracket
one of them never comes out easily and sometimes they pop out quickly thus taking your knuckles off on the bonnet slam
i wear gloves to pull and also seeing as radiator is scrap get a pry bar under the radiator and pry bar the radiator as you pull it

reversal as they say

do remember to bleed properly or you get the gurgly gurgly syndrome
