Hi guys just joined up to this so it's all bit new for me ! Im after some help I've got a gt3 s reg punto and last Friday my injector light came on, on the dash ! So I stopped driving it and gave it to my friend who is mechanic and when he done a few tests on it it's come up as a map sensor problem ! Now he's not that clued up with my car but need find out few things ! Where is the map sensor is it in ecu? I've read and been told so many different things about pipes and cracked wires into ecu thro bulkhead ? Prior to this light coming on did run bit lumpy so if any had or knows how fix it I'd be well grateful thanx for reading ant

Yes above is correct.

The Gt acheives the correct fuel mixture through the AFM. These are a common faliure item and would recommend you change it for another genuine Bosch one (second hand) as new are £500+

IF the car is ldling poorly and stalls easily when in low gears this is one of the more common problems.

The only barometric pressure sensor for the car measure altitude so the standard boost controller can reduce boosts at high altitudes, this will not be your problem.

The gt has a MAP sensor!! its in the ecu and you will get this code on a blink test if the pipe from the inlet through the bulkhead Is split. Also can be caused by the small section of vac pipe located inside the ECU case if the other pipe looks ok.
Might not be the problem but I am sure it has a MAP sensor.
Good luck with it.

Blink test codes:
2135 - Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor (internal to ECU)

3211 - Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor malfunction (internal to ECU)

I think it has both, if I am right the afm is only used when either on or off boost can't remember what way round and could be wrong about that.

only on my phone so don't have any diagrams to hand but will check later if I get a chance

can't see how that could work, if its integral to ecu then whats it measuring exactly.. You sure its not just where the signal from the MAF is received in the ecu? or an output based on the MAF signal. A MAP needs a vacuum line to it for it to measure and the ecu don't have a vac line on it, nor has any ecu i ever seen.

The vac line runs from the inlet to the ecu and another small section inside.
I have had mine out in the last few months to check as the pipe inside is a common problem, it was fine but the missfire got worse and it turned out to be a worn lobe on the camshaft.
Camshaft was not an easy fix due to needing shimmed up but the car now runs with a fiat x19 1500cc N/A cam
I can't be sure its a map sensor without checking the diagrams

I am no expert mate
Just had a look at the Sei in your sig, what a machine!! I love it, you certainly have your work cut out with two fiat turbos.
Sorry to go off topic :-S

There is a wiring diagram here and, insane as it is (all prejudices about Germans being incapable of producing competent electronics confirmed) it shows MAP and MAF. Which is pretty damn wierd and a very good reason, to my mind for throwing the lot in the bin and going aftermarket. WTF were they thinking of?
Phew!! I was starting to worry I was giving out bad info , thanks for clearing that up .
is it the MAF for running on vacume and the MAP for when on boost?

well there you go, something learnt today.. Does seem pretty weird to me but thinking on my old merc had a MAF but also had a little electronic sensor with a vac line to it. I never even bothered trying to mess under the bonnet of that though, everything is far too much hassle, even getting a spark/glow plug out of a merc is far to much hassle lol..

Glad you like it & Your telling me lol..
