I am restoring a 1980 Spider. I am having difficulty getting it started. Ther is no power to the fuel pump, which is new. The fuses are okay. Is there a relay? if so where is it located? Any other thoughts?

Carbed or FI? If FI, there are a couple of things, there is an in-line fuse for the fuel pump; also, the "flap" in the air flow meter will turn the pump on/off - the flap has to move off "closed" to energize the pump.

Its among the wires accessible behind the vertical part of the console. If I remember right (from 8 years ago) its a white wire with a brown tracer or vice versa. There are a few in-line fuses in that rats nest of wires, but not so many that you can't check 'em all in a few minutes. Good luck with it.

I just purchased a 1980 Spyder 2000 convertible, happy to see I am not the only one having trouble finding fuses. I replaced the manual engine mounted pump with a new electric in the trunk and ran new wires for it. Have two filters in the line right now as it has been setting for over seven years. Having fun with it though, just trying to get all the electrical and mechanical up to speed so I can start with the cosmetics.

I found my fuse box was corroded very badly and really am thinking about replacing it with a more modern fuse box. Hoping to have it restored and on the road withing a year and a half. I do everything myself, no farm outs, but then I am retired and enjoy having a project in my shop.

Happy Motoring.
