That was already there as well. I'll do the drivers side when I get up later. :)

I need to fill the vent holes before reassembling the dash. I was going to weld plates in there but that's just extra weight so I'm looking at a Super ligera-esque alternative.

Two weeks of Sun shine and pleasant enough temperatures I thought I'd use my time off this week to do some body work on the Panda racer.

Rain, hot and humid and tomorrow's forecast? More rain, hotter and more humid. Stupid English weather! I need a garage.

Finished tidying the interior today.

...as I'm not going to have much power the last thing I want to do is add weight. So with that in mind I thought instead of welding plates to all the dash holes where the heater and other vents were I could use...

...Super Ligera tape instead. ;)

Distracted I faffed about trial fitting the rev counter...

...and as the weather has turned to typical April showers I couldn't get the bodywork done I had planned so started to paint the interior.

When I woke up a Fox with a Unicorn-esque horn, violet and yellow badger stripes and a Glasgow accent said it looked crap. I agreed and will do the rest later.

Maybe you should've taped up the vents AFTER painting.

When I worked at Do It All years ago we had a massive glue bin to keep the adhesives in. It was like a solid metal chest freezer with a large metal bar to hold up the very heavy lid. Upshot of all that was the bar punctured a couple of large tins of Evo Stick, whilst fishing around for little tubes with your head in the bin, you tended to get a little woozey.

I wasn't until stocktake when the glue had set the stock hard to the bin we realised what had been going on.

The cranking speed could be due to the Cinquecento starter motor not being powerful enough to turn the Grande Punto block. The problem there is it has a Cinquecento flywheel so the Grande Punto starter motor won't fit, the Grande Punto flywheel won't fit the Panda box so more head scratching there.

I am digging this out, because I am still thinking of making carbed 1.4 stroker for panda 4x4. You said that you had a cinq flywheel to the grande punto 1.4 crank? Bolt on? no difference in bolt pattern? I've read that it can't be bolted together, and grande punto flywheel is to big for panda 4x4 bellhousing. It is a shame that you did not try to start the engine with original carb and inlet manifold, check if all works fine and then tune it with twin carbs. It would be a good hint for me;)Nevertheless i found a bare ,cheap grande 1.4 engine, and will probably buy it for long winter evenings in the garage:)

I still have the 1.4 block in my shed but I think it would sit too low in a 4x4.

For my 4x4 (if it ever arrives) I have a 1242cc Punto 60S block with 866 Punto 75 cam' and a Golf Driver 1.4 carb' on an original Panda manifold. That way I can give the little Puch a bit of punch.

I'll be aiming for torque rather than bhp as the gearing of the Puch cars would make it pointless and off road it would vandalise the transfer box.
