Hi all,

I wouldn't say I am a proper newbie, I have always turned to this trusty website and its brilliant forums for advice on my Fiat, and now I need help more than ever!

I have just received the sad, sad news that the engine on my 06 Grande Punto (Dynamic) 1.3 Multijet (90) has died. Long story short, the engine started to make a tired sound then within 2 day's the engine cut out completely whilst I was driving along the motorway. The garage had a look at it and discovered that the camshaft chain (I think ?) had snapped, disintegrating the guide it was on and gouging a grove in the engine block. The metal shavings from this have now entered into the engine so it is a no go.

The kick in the teeth is that I was looking to change my car in the following weeks. I am now left with the option of putting a new engine in it or trying to sell it as it is to someone hopefully looking for a project. I am not sure if this is the right place to put this, or if I am allowed to do this at all (apologies if not!) but I was hoping if someone would help point me in the right direction as to where to post this or perhaps help me find a buyer for my engineless Punto. It would be a shame to sell it for scrap, I'd much rather find an enthusiastic Fiat fan to buy it and restore it to its original glory. Any information, help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for reading! :worship:

Hi James, sorry to hear your bad news,

I think the 1.3 is a little overwhelmed by the body of the GP..,
I would consider an engine swap , , you do find non-running diesels quite cheap ( commonly pump issues),
but if you have to pay a garage for the work it would work out expensive,
try posting in the GP section to get a more balanced view,
good luck,
Charlie
