Hi all.... I live in the far north of the UK, and have owned a fiat marea 19jtd for about 5 years. (maybe more....feels like a lifetime sometimes :D)

It is a very high mileage vehicle, a W reg. Had some interesting problems with it...have replaced both rear trailing arms, both rear springs, all wishbone bushes (going to have to do some more for the MOT this year, the roads round here are all single track, and a bit hard on suspension) the MAF sensor, all the pipework for the power steering, some abs cables, all wheel bearings and recently the slip ring/bearing on the front passenger side (abs warning light on constantly) and various other bits and pieces. LOL...I only paid £100 for the car...I reckon I have spent about a grand on it in the time we have owned it. Still cheaper than a new car, and now, better the devil you know....

I have found a lot of helpful advice on this forum, and thought it was about time I registered and got involved. I was looking for advice about the airbag warning light (see marea forum) as its constantly illuminated, and apparently that is now going to be an RFR on the MOT test. (new regs coming in...warning lights illuminated when they shouldnt be, stricter emissions levels for post 2010 vehicles, the towbar and its socketry...No cat will also incur an RFR, where before it was advisory, and more stringent leak tests on exhaust systems)

My other 'car' is a 1982 SIII Land Rover....:D

The roads round here are having a lot of work done...(well, I say work, I really mean leaning on shovels) at the moment. Some really bad stretches between Altnaharra and Melvich, and Melvich to Helmsdale, set to last for several months by the looks of it. We hit a patch on the road from Syre over to Kinbrace the other week, thought it had torn the sump off there was such a bang. It was a 'repair'....
