Hi Folks - another newbee here!

Just been told that we may have blown the CPU in my daughter's Seicento Sporting (2001Y) when bump starting it
Any pointers/advice or any for sale?

I left the radio on overnight and ran the battery down, then we bump-started it and it was fine for 2 days.
Car starts ok but has no power - feels like you're driving along in 4th gear when you should be in 2nd (female's description) LOL! Engine warning light is on. According to my brother, it was only running? on 3 cylinders? (hope that's the right word)
Friend/Mechanic has checked coils and they are fine - his pal at Fiat reckons it's the ECU. ECU would be £230 from Fiat, hence me desperately struggling to find one elsewhere.
Would it be sensible to check the cables for corrosion before fitting the new ECU?
Cheers
Fiona

well i'm no wizard with the electric side of things but i'm a bit dubious its the ECU, i suggest you post in the cinq/sei section of the forum and ask there. Have you disconnected the battery to reset the ecu?

Whereabouts are you? It wouldn't take long to swap an ecu over if there is a nice forum member near you and then you'd know for sure ;)

Re: Seicento Sporting ECU?

I think I've been in all the sections looking for advice & I got plenty! The symptoms & advice given were all pointing towards the ECU (coils are fine). Hopefully it's not just something simple like a corroded wire! Still it's a pal/mechanic that's doing the work, so I know I'm not getting ripped off!

I've managed to get an ECU with full locking system & whatever else is required (sorry, don't know the technical names) for £115 which includes a 6 month guarantee!

I'm in East Lothian.

Yep - the numbers are building!

Every one has been so helpful! (y)

Fingers crossed that my daughter is back learning in her wee motor soon!! The thing is, she's not keen on the car at all! It's a brilliant wee thing too - think it's just that she stands out so much, with it being bright yellow!
With only a genuine 44k on the clock when we bought it, it should have many years left in it!

Fingers crossed.......

Cheers
