Hello everyone.

Today I rescued a 45S Mk1 Uno from being scrapped. My neighbour has had this car sitting in her garage for over 3 years now and as she and her husband are moving today, they were going to scap the car.

The Uno is an 87 or 88 on an E Reg and needs some TLC. It is far too good to scrap. Hardly any rust and it runs after a jump start.

I was looking for a project car as after chopping in my Alfa for a brand new Focus Estate last March I am desperate to have something to tinker with.

Since moving the Uno into my Car Port I have fixed the oil leak (replaced o ring on distributor), refitted nearside corner of the rear bumper and have taken the battery out ready to replace.

It will need a new radiator as this one started spraying out the front, the brakes are completely shot (pedal nearly to the floor), degrease engine due to previous oil leak which must have been there for years, wax oil floor, doors and anything else I can cover. Then a really good clean and wax etc.

Hopefully the bushes are ok.

The tyres are good, just need air. Its got a nice sunroof.

I will no doubt need some help from the kind people on the forum, and having owned over 40 cars myself will hopefully be able to help some of you folks.

This looks a great site as I have been looking through over the last few days. The Italian car sites seem to attract the best people, so I look forward to communicating with people.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my drivelling on.(y)

Well Done! Good luck with the refurbishment :) Keep us all posted on your progress.
My old boss used to have an Uno around '88/'90 - nice! It was a toss-up between an Uno and a Seat Ibiza for me; in the end I bought a 2CV
