Hi all, just got my act together to get on here as I own(ED) an R plate marea weekend. However last friday it got walloped by a runaway trailer. Trailer came off a tractor and rolled over as I was going past at 30. If I had hit the brake as I meant to it would have hit the Windscreen, as it was I hit the throttle and it landed on the back roof. If anyone tells you Fiats are made of bean cans tell them to sod off. Have a look at piccie. This is the result of a 20ft trailer full of pallets. I was really impressed by the way the car took it, so much so that I will probably get a saloon version as a replacement.

Ok, I was driving to work through a village near here. I was behind one tractor that was not towing anything. Coming the other way was another tractor towing the accused (trailer). The oncoming tractor moved over to ensure that there was enough room for both to pass. The trailer was one of the big ones with the steering wheels at the front attached to the towing arm. Well, This may not be exactly right because as you can imagine it happened real fast.

The front wheel of the trailer hit the kerb somehow causing the tow arm to disconnect from tractor which kept going. As the wheel hit the kerb it caused the nearside wheel to stop, spinning the other round, The trailer was still moving at about 30ish, overbalanced and rolled. Hit the rear end of my car, took out a lamp post and half a wall, then came to rest across the road on its side.

All I can really remember is seeing the tow arm, the trailer start to tip and then the noise of it hitting the car, the car went down lower than I could have imagined.

Like I say I put most of this together after when talking to the witnesses. Really thought I had had it that time. Must have been good at some point or another........:D

Sorry, Not really wanting to take up all the bandwidth, last one. Would just like to point out that this truly was a 1000-1 thing. I don't blame the tractor driver at all. ( apart from insurance wise of course) actually felt sorry for him when the farm manager came down. OOOOOHHHHHHHHh!
