Hello all ;)

I recently joined the fiat forum for information more than anything as I have been looking to buy a cinquecento.

I fell in love with them when they were first made despite not being old enough to drive at the time.

I still really love the shape of them and although I do not own one I would like to.

Please do not cast me out.:worship:

I recently purchased one through ebay the final bid without MOT and tax was £99.
In the listing the seller stated that the car merely needed a new washer pump and brake lights sorted to pass an MOT and if the winning bidder wanted him to get it MOT'd to ask him. Which I did.

I asked him to keep me updated at all times on cost to which I was told brake lights, second hand washer pump. MOT cost etc. Then without warning £60 for his time.

 I queried it, so he reckons he gave it away to someone else.

Really gutted  but still looking.

Hopefully will own a cinquecento very soon.

Very tipical of the scammers and scumbags that are on there now (n)

Welcome to here and dont give up (y)

Cinq's are great fun. Well worth paying that little bit more for a good one than trying to get the cheapest you can.

Yeah should of known it was too good to be true but wantd to get it as bog standard as possible whilst still be legal and drivable so that I can slowly build it up myself the way I want it. When I have the ££ at least!

How did you pay for the car, by Paypal? If so, you can get your money back through them. Also, if you won the auction, legally you have a contract with the seller. If he has sold it to someone else, then he is breaking the law, as technically you own it !! At the very least, report the matter to Ebay. Probably won't get you anywhere, but scams like this need addressing.
You could always send the boys round for a word with him!! ;)

Thanks for the advise :)

Thought about sending round the heavies but never got as far as the b******s address!! ;)

Luckily I hadn't paid as I agreed with the bloke to pay when I picked it up so that I could give him the cost of the MOT and the parts at the same time.

I think because the extra bits were seperate from the ebay sale :bang: they won't do anything but even so I did report it to them and sent them all the correspondance (emails) that were sent between us so they can see that at the beginning I enquired about cost and that he'd stated "MOT and a few odds and sods." His exact words!!
They can also see that he was being pig headed giving it away.

Thanks for reassuring me actually. I knew he was entering a contract but thought that maybe he new something I didn't!!

The thing is it is fraud in a sense because he said he was justified as he had spent a long time checking the car over to check it all out and ensure it would pass the MOT.
The thing was he had stated in his listing that it only needed the washer pump and brake lights done. So in a sense it was missold anyway if he had to spend that much time checking it!!
