Thanks for reading this.

You know when you fill out an insurance form online and you are given a drop down box to pick an answer, well, what is the usual immobilizer that is fitted to a Petrol SX 100 Multi?

I usually just pick 'manufacturers standard'. But what is it?
Is it a Thatcham 1 or 2 or different again?
What!?

Thatcham 2(manufacturers standard)

Thank you!

I have another question.......Whats the difference betwen a Thatcham 1 and a Thatcham 2? What has one got that the other does not?
Thanks in advance.

Thatcham 1 is a immobiliser that reaches Thatchams standard.

Thatcham 2 would be a alarm that reaches the standard.

Thank you.....ok, now I is confuzzled! :spin:

If my car is a Thatcham 1 (as in post #2) then according to this I am in fact a Thatcham 2.....I didnt know I had an alarm then as well.

Am I perhaps a Thatcham 2 not a 1? I went on the web site quoted and I think it is a 2. I really don't think I have an alarm.

Thanks.

Whoops typo the 1's and 2's should be the other way round. Fixed.

I dont think it is likely too, not on a relativly low insurance group car anyway. I bought a alarm for my Brava TD which already has the immobiliser, I phoned and asked my broker if it was worth me getting it fitted professionally to gain the required certificate. He said no, and that was just talking about a £50 cost to have it fitted.
