Hi I have been reading all the posts about power loss and have tried all that I can, I have cleaned the MAF sensor and checked the Air filter (repaced with a K&N one), cleaned connections, also the battery had died so I have just replaced that.

I thought it was going quite well, but today did a trip to the coast (Littlehampton :D ) had 4 adults, 2 children and the dog, all went well on 30 - 40 MPH, got on Duel cabbage way and she started to suffer, foot flat to the floor and it seemed to slow down, lift a little and slowly depress and she slowly gained speed. Once at 70 - 80 all's well and she will stay there.

Also the MPG claims 19.4 allthough last week I managed 40.9 full to full and the MPG stated 20.3, still I think 40 may be a little low I have heard that she should give me around 45.

I don't know whats going on Please help.:bang:

Try the EGR valve - mine clogged up.

An easy temporary fix and diagnosis is to take it out of gear when the symptoms occur and floor it. If it picks up after that then it's likely to be the EGR.

Replace - FIAT did try and clean it before they put their hand in their pocket to replace it but it didn't work, I got 3 miles from the garage before it happened again.

WOW thanks guys, :worship: I have had a look at the photos and it does not look the same as my Multipla, my diesel filter is in the back left hand corner(as you look from the front) judging from the photo the ERG appears to connect the exhaust to the inlet, I will need to take a closer look.
Many thanks again for the info:D :D :D
Andy.

Indeed the EGR does connect to the inlet as it's job is to route some of the waste gases back into the engine to re-combust! :)

Now I know that the two engines are different so thanks for that ;)

OK found it, (y) little devil is hiding under the cover at the back centre of the engine, once cover is removed you can see it, remove pipe, undo 4 bolts (2 down and 2 across) and its off, I'll do it at the weekend, need it for work tommorow.:bang:
Thanks again.
Andy.

This is very interesting as I've the same kind of problem with a 2002 55,000miles 1.9d scudo non turbo. There are a number of threads in "scudo" forum. All with no solution as yet.

I'll try the erg and air flow if i've got em.

OK sorry for the delay, here's the update so far:
K&N air filter big help. (y)
MAF Sensor small help(y)
ERG valve small help.(y)
Deisel filter changed big help.(y)
I have also just changed the oil and replaced whatever was in there with recomended oil selina plus an extra help with ZX1 friction eliminator.
The filter and the oil change seem to have made the biggest difference, but it gets a little better each time I do something, the car's history shows regular servicing  (not Fiat dealer), but I'm not sure what they did as all the bits I have done so far have not been done for a long time.(n)

I am wondering if the throttle sensor needs atention, has anyone done that, or does anyone know of anything else to try.

Had the same problem with my scudo, similar engine I think. Turned out that there was a slight leak in the intercooler. Replaced this and it accelareted ok after that.

Well car is supposed to have been fixed and am picking up today they have said that when the egr was changed the garage didn't reset the cars system so didnt recognise the change.

The shocking thing is that Fiat have recommended that the egr valve should be changed every 3 years to avoid problems
