I would appreciate anybodys help with the following.
I have just bought a 2001 1.9 jtd sx multipla and am unsure if the
factory fitted immobiliser that all the spec sheets say it has is
working. It came with no remote fobs and i was told the action of
locking / un locking the door with the genuine fiat transponder key
activated the alarm immobiliser even though no indicators flash as is
the norm with most car alarm / immobiliiser systems . I have now
fitted the fiat remote locking kit to the car , this works great but
obviously when locking / unlocking doors with fobstill no indicators
flash. To test the immobiliser i locked myself in the car with the fob
and try as i might , waving arms like an idiot,i could not get the
alrm to go off. Can any body tell me how the alarm / immobiliser is
supposed to work.

The Immobiliser is pretty simple really,
When you put your key in the ignition the car reads the chip inside your key,if there isn't one or if it's the wrong one it won't start.

As for the alarm, as far as I am aware all the Fiat alarms are set by the remote key fob, so I suspect your car doesn't have one.

Thanks for help , have finally got my head around the way the immobiliser works on the multipla compared to the freelander ive just got rid of. I was thinking the immobiliser was part o an alarm system but on my multipla (the sx) the immobiliser is a stand alone item and i sure an alarm wasnt fitted as standard and i hadnt noticed the key/code symbol on the dash.
once again cheers for the advice

:( I am a unhappy bunny, my multipla was parked across my drive last night blocking my husband in, i locked up with remote key as usual however when i came out this morning the remote key would not unlock the car. I then unlocked it with the key and the alarm went off, i kept pressiing the deactivate button but it wont work. I cant start my car any ideas guys?

ifs its the same faul ti had, then if you look inside the key theses a little switch that has prob. fallen off?. you need to get it resoldered on. if not it could be the battery etc
