Technical Multipla Non Starter :(

I was wondering if it was a relay... but no idea which relays do what. My handbook only refers to fuses , and not the relays . There are 5 , one square (black) two half size (black) and two half size (Red) . Maybe I need to check these ?
Yes very good idea on ugly multipla relays in box to right of battery can be removed one at a time checked and replaced.
Removing and replacing can make a difference.

Any idea what each relay does and what each one should be ? just in case the wrong one is currently fitted . or where I can find out from the manual. I had a look on ebay for multipla fuseboxes and where I can see part nos they are similar but different .

Post a picture of your relay box with the lid off

See relays. I swapped the smaller black ones over , made no difference. Guess I need to confirm they are working and what the control. Todays update still no start, fires and then dies.

This is my 2010 fuse box

Thanks, My code light goes out everytime. so I think the imobiliser side of things is fine. I think its fuelling or electrical.

Do make sure your in tank fuel pump is working.
Then check there are no tiny holes in the diesel pipe between tank and filter that could suck air in.

Followed the fuel lines and they both look OK , I can hear a whirring under the rear seats when the key is turned, cant hear it from drivers seat but can when I get someone to turn key while im listening, also can hear within the engine bay too. presume this is fuel initialisation . If there is a tiny hole would this cause the non starts ? Not sure how I diagnose a tiny hole. Looking at the fuel lines they appear to be metal all the way up to the inner wing, then switch to a flexible plastic , this then goes in via what looks like a very poor looking quick release connector into the top of the filter . Wondering if this is where the issue is if its air being sucked in? This seems to be push fit connection. It was loose , in fact its disintegrated , looks like its been bodged before . I presume this could have been disturbed during the cambelt change as well. The whole filter housing looks very cheap . I guess im gonna need to replace that connector. Looks like 6mm or so bundy with the other side glued into a preformed hose. but its definitely been bodged in past. :( hope this part is available easily.

A photo would help here :)

The connector piece which goes into the filter housing has disintegrated. It was kind of inserted in the hose but clearly not very robust. it has clearly been fixed before the end of the fuel pipe doesnt look original.

Can you post a photo of the filter head as well? There are a few different types.
See the filter housing . Its UFI and seems to be all plastic , and brittle. There was a fix on the top quick release connector wrapped in insulation tape ... I dont think thats how its meant to have been . Looking at new ones theres a missing collar on the green top connector. I presume thats broken or long lost and the top is not available as a part. Looking at it I need a new filter housing and the hose / with connector.

This is the filter 23.55.145.20 UFI Filters .

Looking at the connector it seems to be 6mm OD that plugs into the top quick release connector, however the other end is moulded into the bespoke pipe pictured that push fits onto the metal pipe fixed to the inner wing. Theres no clip or anything on that . The filter seems to be available on EBay and I expect through Fiat parts .. just filled in the form for parts enquiry as they dont seem to be taking phone calls. Wondering whether this is used on Vauxhalls with the 1.9 unit ?

That is completely different to the one used on the older, roundnose Multiplas, which are an aluminium alloy casting and have a mounting bracket built in and the filter canister is underslung.

I don't know if what you've got is the original fitment. Has anybody here got a squarenose that they can look at, for comparison?

I think fiat started fitting the crap plastic type pictured on the square nose.

Yes definitely later models have this as standard fitment and yes cheap and nasty is a compliment. Fuel components should be more robust IMO. I have managed to source a new replacement filter housing from AZ Wakefield but the clip is guesswork, still waiting for Fiat parts to get back to me. Gonna be trial and error to find correct fitment. I ordered the item off Amazon i supplied link to in earlier post and its too small so the top connection is not 6mm OD, its 6mm ID therefore I believe the connector is 7.89 OD . The side connector is bigger but thankfully that connection is still robust. Waiting for a new 7.89 connector tomorrow to arrive then hopefully I can get back to AT LEAST starting. Definitely have fuel from pump to the filter so thats a plus.
