need some help as the boot/tailgate keeps closing on me and as i'm 6'3 and the fiat multipla has rear wheelchair access it's a problem, i bought these off ebay and fitted them in 5 minutes but it is still closing, i did get a full refund £14.95 but it doesn'r solve the problem. has anyone got any recommendations for these struts ? John

Look for Stabilus or Magneti Marelli ones. I think Stabilus were the OEM supplier to Fiat.

RTG sell Stabilus ones on ebay. Ebay Item no. 163741059202 . That listing is for a pair. I've not bought struts from them before but RTG are a decent company to deal with, should you have any after-sales problems.

Is the tailgate standard, or does it have stuff added for the conversion?

These guys can supply standard replacements: https://www.sgs-engineering.com/car-boot-tailgate/fiat/multipla
If your tailgate is heavier, they could also help with stronger ones, have a browse.

If the conversion specialist has fitted stronger struts, they may have a manufacturer part number on them, if so, search for that. Contact the converters if more help needed and the struts are not standard.

portland_bill - now that you mention it, I remember buying a pair of tailgate struts from the Brotherwood ebay store. They were selling them as "New - other" because they removed them from new Multiplas when they carried out their conversion. So they must have been replacing them with something different to the Fiat spec.
jpuk - if the above is correct, it may be worth getting in touch with Brotherwood, as they are likely the only people that will know what you'll need as replacements.

well i contacted brotherwood and they supplied me with a pair of heavy duty ones 600n and fitted them and all working great now, thanks for recommending contacting brotherwood as they did upgrade the std ones, sgs wanted £68 each + vat and delivery
without the end fittings !!! these were £73 including the end fittings if the question ever comes up again.thanks again,John
