After-market replacement mechanical parts (e.g. clutches, suspension arms, bearings, filters, cv joints) are all readily available. Anything particularly bespoke to the Multipla such as body panels, interior trim, headlights, tail lights, the above mentioned rear subframe, are more of a problem. Fiat Europe had a clear out of these type of items around 2016-17 and they are no longer available from dealers. They do appear on eBay from time to time when people are selling clearance stock from old dealerships etc.
I’d add the radiator support cross member to Jack’s list of ‘vulnerable’ items. The front end of the inner sills have rusted on some cars but the construction is simple and a repair from folded sheet is possible. Other than that, the bodies seem to fend off rust very well (and it’s a Fiat, shock horror!). They are certainly fairing at least as well or better than many BMW’s and Merc’s of the same era in that respect.
There’s a fix available nowadays for the rear subframe bushes. A set of four bushes can be bought for less than £100.
For the most part, their main enemy has been their owner demographic. Most were bought as a cheap MPV by families with rampant kids and not a lot of cash spare to maintain them (either the cars or the kids
). When the expensive repair costs kicked in, they got scrapped, not repaired. Finding a good one is a challenge now and numbers are dwindling.
