What is the parts availability for the Mulipla like these days? I'm thinking of jumping back into ownership but fear that I wouldn't be able to get it fixed when needed.

I got shot the first time due to rear subframe bushes!

parts issues :

rear sub frames. Though complete used subframes can be found from European dismantlers.

The bracket that holds the front end of the hand brake cables no longer available- they rust very badly.

After-market replacement mechanical parts (e.g. clutches, suspension arms, bearings, filters, cv joints) are all readily available. Anything particularly bespoke to the Multipla such as body panels, interior trim, headlights, tail lights, the above mentioned rear subframe, are more of a problem. Fiat Europe had a clear out of these type of items around 2016-17 and they are no longer available from dealers. They do appear on eBay from time to time when people are selling clearance stock from old dealerships etc.

I’d add the radiator support cross member to Jack’s list of ‘vulnerable’ items. The front end of the inner sills have rusted on some cars but the construction is simple and a repair from folded sheet is possible. Other than that, the bodies seem to fend off rust very well (and it’s a Fiat, shock horror!). They are certainly fairing at least as well or better than many BMW’s and Merc’s of the same era in that respect.

There’s a fix available nowadays for the rear subframe bushes. A set of four bushes can be bought for less than £100.

For the most part, their main enemy has been their owner demographic. Most were bought as a cheap MPV by families with rampant kids and not a lot of cash spare to maintain them (either the cars or the kids ;) ). When the expensive repair costs kicked in, they got scrapped, not repaired. Finding a good one is a challenge now and numbers are dwindling.

there are a few breakers in UK still selling Multipla spares, have used DAMfiats, and they are good, also, dandbautospares, (just had a door lock from them, and well pleased)
If you search for 'fiat multipla breaking' on e-bay, several places come up.
Haven't tried them all, but those mentioned above are OK, and being UK, reasonable delivery times, though I also bought a brand new pattern wing from Italy, (less than a UK seller, and it arrives within 5 days) and it was good quality too..

Does anyone know where i can get a nosejob rear used subframe ? Seems they are like the proverbial rocking horse. Multi is a 2006 diesel. Had her from new but off the road until i can source this damn part if ever which will mean scrapping the car. That i dont really want to do. ?

Have you tried DAM Fiats in Wickford? Might be worth a try. The suply of new (but expensive) ones on ebay seems to have dried up. That probably means they're not available new from Fiat any longer.

Which bit has failed on your existing subframe? If it's a spring location cone or damper top mount cage, it may well be possible to get a local fab shop to make a repair for you. If you can get the subframe off youself and deliver it to them, it shouldn't cost much to go that route. For the spring locators, something that mimics this approach would work:

Thanks chaps. Appreciate your help. Didn't realise the mk1 and nose job subframes were the same. On the mot from last year the axle mounts were badly corroded and my garage told me the subframe wouldn't pass this year. Also the axle is corroded
too so thought it wpuld be best just to get the complete assembly. I recieved a reply through firstchoicespares who have sourced one in Germany, 300 quid with three months warranty. They need to confirm it with the chassis number so we'll see

Thanks for all the replies!

A straw poll in our house reads:

3 females - Yes we loved it! Get another! But only if it's got twin sunroofs again!
1 male - No dad don't it's really sad and uncool ug ug.

Ha!
