Before you go any further...

Oh, we've gone further. It was a bright sunny day and there was no stopping him. So, there's been a few visiting neighbours umming and ahhing, and offering some words of wisdom, but mostly there's been a lot of hard graft and sawing… and hammering, and levering back and forth.
So now there is one of the front bushes in, and the other remenents are being persuaded out.
It looks to have been the right course of action, and I am assured that the subframe work is nearly completed. This will of course be something of a miracle, and i will update you with any fresh news (non pupil day tomorrow, so there may be more things happening…)

Any update on this? Been wondering what happened with it

Any update on this? Been wondering what happened with it

Thanks for asking Chris! I'm so sorry - yes! I promised an update, but so much has been happening, it's been a job to keep up... The update fits nicely into 3 categories; The Good. The Bad… and The Ugly.
Lets start with the good. Almost unbelivably, the subframe complete with new bushes was reinstated. And if you thought that would be the end of the matter, you would be wrong. As indeed I was. Because whilst the subframe job was happening, it exposed the exhaust pipe, which given that we had a virtually new one stashed in the attic (taken off a previous ugly bug) it seemed to Fab like a good time to replace the current one with this. If anyone thought this job would go smoothly they would be bitterly disappointed, as the exchange was fraught with highs and lows, bits that fitted and bits that for some strange reason didn't. So, that turned into an almighty battle, which finally came good just the other day after lots of banging, swearing and determination. :bang: Meanwhile however, it transpired that one of the bump stops had deteriorated and so I put into play the detective seeking mission required to source such a part and eventually 2 of those arrived, as did some new anti-roll bar linkages, front brake hoses and track rods. All of which have now been replaced (except the bump stops which for reasons best known to others are still on the coffee table…) But I think they are going in along with 'Other Things' that have reared their ugly head, namely the need for new shock absorbers and an issue with the rear brake pipe threads which have snapped off. Some days it's hard to know whether to laugh or cry. But mostly we just keep going… so I guess there will need to be another update soon! :D
(a few photo's attached of the subframe going back in, the new antiroll bar linkages and the front brake hoses in place … and one where it looks like everything is back together… but I went for the victory celebration photo a bit early in retrospect!!)
