Technical Reversing switch.

Youve not said what year..engine etc..

Jtds tend to have lots of stuff packed alongside the battery
It's a jtd with loads of stuff packed around battery!

I can't remember of hand if reverse switch on top of gearbox but if it is removing the air filter box gains a lot of access. That is the route I take to the clutch slave cylinder.
Some people with other models that have jtd engine have got to switch by removing left hand wheel and going in through wheel arch- don't know if that applies to multi. Have a look.

Sorry guys,
It's a 2010 1.9 diesel (don't know if that makes it a JTD or not)

Similar.. but termed mjet ;)

Potential for even more 'accessories..' in the way

Look at the parts site for a view of the gearbox..
The sensor is often on the box.. although by 2010 it could just use the ABS rotors..my mistake speedo..not teverse switch

That will still be a screw.in plunger switch

Omg Charlie please tell me that's not true.
How does the abs unit the wheels are going backwards and turn the reverse light on?

I posted that in a bit of a senior moment.. thinking of speedo drive

Reverse sensor is still a screw.in switch
No doubt ;)

Parts list coming up..

What is the issue?

No reversing lights??

The list says the switch is fitted on all larger FIATS from 85 to 2015 :)

But unplug and a paperclip on both sides of the wiring plig should rule out the switch ;)

When i 1st bought the car and put it in reverse, i got a continuous tone from the parking sensors, so i checked the sensors and found 2 were knackered and i replaced them, it worked for a few months but has now stopped working and so have the reversing light, i have checked the fuses, but they are all ok, so i assumed it's the switch ?

Metal paper clip joining two wires in plug that attaches to reverse switch is logical next step . If reverse light etc then works fault is switch

It really couldn't be any easier to get to .
Pic is from underneath car on ground ie no on ramps.

If/When changing switch have new one ready to put straight in as old one removed, the switch is lower than filler level plug so gearbox fluid will flow out. 20200614_133138.jpeg

Found the switch, thanks to you info, shorted the wires (the old paper clip test)
reversing lights and reversing sensors worked fine, so new reversing switch on order.
thanks for the info.
