Hi..New to group and to Multiplas and have a question..i own a 2008 fiat multipla 1.9 jtd and my tailgate, which opened and closed up till yesterday now refuses to open..
Can anyone tell me what the problem could be and how to solve it..Thanks in anticipation ..

Probably a gummed up microswitch in the bootlid, under the rubber cover that you press to open the tailgate. Use the advanced forum Search button at the top of the page, using “microswitch” as the search term and with the search focus narrowed down to the Multipla section (from the list at bottom right). You’ll get lots of results and in there somewhere will be one or two How-To’s on fixing it. Some have used a microswitch from a Vauxhall (Cavalier?) to effect a repair.

Do you have a release switch by base of hand brake lever?
If you do pull switch , do you hear electric release mechanism in tailgate work?
Of yes then it is switch in tailgate that needs cleaning.
Where in UK are you?

As it's a 2008 model, it will be a facelift one, so sadly no release lever by drivers seat/handbrake.
If you cannot get the door open from outside, there is a lever in the boot door itself, but you will need to remove a rear seat, and look closely at the lock on tailgate, a small screwdriver can be used to 'flick' the little lever. Will try to take a pic and post later..
(If you have a manual, check page 79, as this shows the location of the switch)

Hope this helps

Thank you for your help..I found a release switch at the back door lock..didn't realise that the manual was showing it on the wrong side.or that the switch would be so small..but all sorted now..great group for fiat owners!!
