I replaced my cranshalf pulley lasted 2 years now I am replacing every few months.

Got them from eurocarparts last one paid a more for it thinking it was a better quality.

Not sure the make garage did it I no the second one was more expensive they got they are trying to say it's the actual camshaft its self must be out.

They're probably trying to make themselves a few quid extra profit and are fobbing you off with a cheap one. Just because ECP supplied it, that isn't a guarantee of good quality unfortunately. The no-name unbranded ones are well known to last about 5 minutes.

If there was something wrong with the crankshaft itself, you'd know about it for all sorts of other reasons like oil leaks and very bad vibration, with the possible exception of some mullered threads in the end of the crank where the crank pulley bolts go. If that's the case, someone at the garage has been extremely clumsy, not to say incompetent.

My marea jtd did lots of miles without issue.

Pretty sure I had to remove the rubber centred pulley to renew the serpentine belt..

It went fine..doing another 12k before I retired it.

So.. if they are failing.. ask the garage to claim on its warranty. ;)

Yes they said would claim under warranty only been on 4mths that's all they seem to last they said they have tryed different brands and this last one was dearer to try and solve the problem.

I carnt feel any vibration car runs ok just noisy from the pulley.

Don't assume the original failure was old age. The root cause should be diagnosed. In this case, I'd guess the original failure cause was due to some other part of the setup. Replacement of the affected part may not be anywhere near a cure for the cause.

Garage suggesting camshaft is nonsense. Are you sure they said camshaft?
Outer crank pulley (Which I guess is what we're talking about here) drives the auxiliary belt, not the camshaft. If they are really suggesting camshaft, you need a different garage. Unlikely to be a fault with the crankshaft either. The nose where the pulley fits is unlikely to bend, and any issue there would be visible with the engine running, as it would show a wobbly pulley, so quick and easy to diagnose.

The pulley is a two-part item, using a rubber block to transmit the drive from the inner boss on the crank, to the outer grooved pulley for the belt. I'd not expect either metal bit to fail, unless struck by a rock ro similar, so I'm assuming it is the rubber part that is failing. Even cheap ones will last longer than a few months. Failure is due to loads or shocks greater than expected. So you need to look at each part it is driving. (Alternator, power steering, aircon, tensioner pulleys, water pump?, and anything else) One of these is causing the problem.

The alternator probably has a freewheeling pulley. These fail, and there have been several posts on here, particularly Multipla, where a failed pulley has resulted in cracked alternator casings. A siezing alternator, or any other of the driven components can create higher stresses on the drivnig pulley, adding load and strain to the rubber part.

Your garage need now to diagnose the cause of failure, not the result.

The "pulley" is actually a torsional inertial damper. It damps vibrations and torque "spikes" in the crankshaft basically absorbing energy at one point in the cycle and returning it at another. This makes for a smoother engine, reduces stres on the crankshaft and reduces the amount transmitted to the alternator etc.

As Portland Bill says, its repeated failure is a symptom not a cause. (name corrected, sorry Bill.)

Had alternator pulley changed making noise had air conditioned bypassed because that pulley was noisy had the tensioner pulley changed.

I meant crankshaft said could be out would wear pulley garage said.

Shouldn't be speculative on their part. Just look at it when the engine is running, it is either running true, or not.

If crank is otherwise giving excess vibration, this should be felt as an engine running roughly, maybe constantly, or at certain revs. May need a compression test to see if there are runnign issues, or might be injectors not working properly, but any of this should show as poor running, smoke, heavier fuel consumption, loss of power.

Any other symptoms?

Normal reason for a noisy crankshaft pulley is the rubber damper cracked.

I did the same on one of my Stilo JTDs. (The A/c was leaking and not worth repairing). To eliminate the A/c compressor pulley, the 2 idler pulleys also have to be bypassed. Only way I could do it was to fit a much shorter drive belt. The length of the new belt is critical or it will rub on the top idler pulley, which could cause a noise.
