Hi I’m new here looking for some help. I have a Multipla 1.9 jtd with some issues. I bought the car non running and have fitted a second hand engine. The car starts runs and pulls well but idles very lumpy. Also when trying to drive slowly in first gear it can be very jerky. On the diagnostic machine there are no codes showing, on live data I have notices the air flow rate stays at 1305mg constantly and air temperature reads -273. When the sensor is unplugged the reading stay the same but a code comes up detecting the air flow meter is unplugged. I have tried another second hand air flow meter and get the same results so I suspect a wiring issue. Does anybody know of any common issues or any tests I can do with multi meter etc? Thanks for any replies in advance. Sean

Hi Sean,

I've been running my 1.9jtd 2003 for about 5 months / 10k miles without the MAF connected without any adverse issues. Perhaps this is a fuel problem rather than air? Also by unplugging the maf the EGR should close which will rule out that causing any issues. Ignore the fault code - it shouldn't cause any limp mode or anything.

Good luck!

Hi thanks for the reply. I have bought a set of fuel injectors from a low mileage jtd. I wanted to address the airflow issue before messing with to many things but thinking about it the car should run smooth when the sensor is unplugged shouldn’t it?
Thanks Sean
